This document contains information on the following topics: 1.0 Overview 2.0 Installation Notes For Client 32 for DOSWIN users 2.1 Windows 3.x Users 2.2 DOS Users ________________________________________________________________________ 1.0 Overview ------------- To install DFE-670TXD in the Client 32 for Windows 95 environment, you should have the Windows 95 CD-ROM and the NOVELL Client 32 CD-ROM nearby. 2.0 Installation Notes for Client 32 for DOSWIN users ------------------------------------------------------ ******************************************************************* * Notes: The PC Card should be enabled by Card services. * * Please run DFCD.EXE before starting Client 32 for DOSWIN.* * * * Content of CONFIG.SYS * * --------------------- * * Add below two lines to the CONFIG.SYS file * * * * DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS X=D000-D7FF * * DEVICE=<PATH\DFCD.EXE /iop=300 /irq=11 * * ; <PATH> is a directory that includes the DFCD.EXE file. * * ; Please refer to the INST_DOS.TXT file for details. * ******************************************************************* 2.1 Windows 3.x Users ---------------------- 1. Start Windows 3.x system 2. Run the Client 32 for DOSWIN installation program, using SETUP.EXE Example: >CD \<PATH> ; <PATH> is Client 32 for DOSWIN >SETUP.EXE or Double click SETUP.EXE in Files Manager windows 3. Press ENTER to accept the agreement. 4. Specify your target directory. Example: C:\NOVELL\CLIENT32 ; If you had chosen the C drive. 5. Click "Other Boards..." 6. Please insert release driver diskette into the disk drive. 7. Specify the full path of the driver, i.e. D:\<PATH>. Example: D:\NETWARE\CLIENT32\DFE670.LAN 8. Select "D-Link DFE-670TXD Fast Ethernet PC Card Driver". 9. Specify your configuration for Additional Optional window then click "Next>" to continue. 10. Restart your workstation, click "NetWare Login" to login to the NetWare server from NetWare Tools. 11. Keywords supported by DFE670 Connection Type - This keyword specifies that the duplex mode and line speed on network cards. 2.2 DOS Users -------------- 1. Run the Client 32 for DOSWIN installation program, using INSTALL.EXE. Example: >CD \<PATH> ;<PATH> is Client 32 for DOSWIN >INSTALL.EXE 2. Press ENTER or YES to accept the agreement. 3. Select "NetWare Client 32 for DOS". 4. Use default value in Customize Support for Windows if you Select "NetWare Client 32 for Windows", as well. 5. Press "F10" to continue. 6. Select "32-bit LAN drivers" from LAN Driver Type window. 7. Select "USER SPECIFIED 32 BIT DRIVER". 8. Please insert release driver diskette into the disk drive. 9. Specify the full path of the driver, i.e. D:\<PATH>. Example: D:\NETWARE\CLIENT32 10. Select "D-Link DFE-670TXD Fast Ethernet PC Card Driver" from 32-Bit Network Board Drivers window. 11. Specify "Connection Type", "Driver Retries", "Frame Type" and "Node Address" setting, then press "F10" to save. Example: Default value is as below Frame Type is Ethernet_802.2 Slot is 1 12. Press "F10" to continue in Installation Configuration Summary window, if you accept. 13. AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS will be update after installation. 14. Restart your workstation and load the NetWare networking software; it will connect to the Netware server. 15. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
