EtherLink Server 10/100 PCI CD
------------------------------

This 3Com EtherLink Server CD contains diagnostic and configuration
programs as well as drivers for some of today's popular operating
systems along with installation instructions.  This help file
provides an overview of this CD's contents.


    Root Directory
    --------------

    	BEGIN.EXE:
		Utility to locate and launch this EtherCDs browser.

    	PARTNO:       
        	Contains the part number and version of this 3Com EtherLink
        	Server CD.

    	3CDdisk1:
        	Identification file.

    	LICENSE.TXT:
        	3Com's Software License Agreement for the software on the
        	3Com EtherLink Server CD.

    	README.TXT:
        	Important notes for the 3C980C-TXM EtherLink Server NIC.

    	EL98X20.CAT:
		Digitally signed installation catalogue file.	   

	3C90XCFG.EXE: 
      		DOS diagnostic program.

    	3C90XCFG.PIF
        	PIF file to ensure 3C90XCFG.EXE runs in DOS mode only.

    	3C90XENG.HLP: 
        	Help file for the DOS diagnostic program.

	OEMSETUP.INF: 
      		Windows NT 4.0 installation script file.

	ROADMAP.TXT:
		This file, a listing of the CD contents.

    	W2KEL98X.INF:
        	Windows 2000 installation file.

	AUTORUN.INF:
		The 1st file run when the CD is placed in the CD drive.

	Demo32.exe:
		A DemoShield core file needed to run DemoShield Demos.

	Ds32.dll:	
		A DemoShield dynamically linked library required by Demo32.exe.

	El98xn5.sy_:	
		NDIS5 driver.
		
	El98xn4.sy_:	
		NDIS4 driver.

	El98xn3.sy_:	
		NDIS3 driver.

	SRV_CONF.EX_:
		NIC configuration utility.

	SRV_CONF.HL_:
		NIC configuration utility help file.

	PCI_DATA.EXE:
		Utility used to gather PCI configuration space information.

	PCI_FIX.SYS:
		Driver used to interrogate PCI configuration space.

	DASERVER.CPL:	
		Dynamic Access core file.

	3C980X.DLL:
		Windows 2000 coinstaller file.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
