Installing the drivers on an existing Windows 2000 installation

1. Start your Windows 2000 system and log in. You must have System Administrator privileges to install the driver.

2. Windows 2000 setup will show a "New Hardware Found" dialog box. Click next.

3. Choose "Display a list of known drivers so that I can choose a specific driver". Click next.

4. In the "Install Drivers" dialog box, choose "Have disk"

5. Insert the LSI 1030 driver floppy disk included with packaging in drive A:

6. Type a:\ and press return.

7. Select the appropriate driver & press return.

8. Windows will install the driver & prompt you to reboot. After rebooting you can use the drive attached to the LSI controller.

New installation to the LSI Controller Install

1. Start the Windows 2000 installation by booting from the Windows CD-ROM:

2. Press the F6 key to install the LSI 1030 driver when the screen displays "Windows 2000 Setup".

3. Choose S to specify an additional device when the screen displays "Setup could not determine the type of one or more mass storage devices..." 

NOTE: If this screen is not displayed as the first user input, then pressing the F6 key was not seen by the setup program. Reboot the system and try again.

The system prompts for the manufacturer-supplied hardware support disk.
4. Insert the appropriate driver diskette and press Enter.
5. Press Enter to proceed.

Return to the Windows 2000 Setup screen.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
