  Test Environment: Red Hat 7.1, "kernel version:2.4.2-2"

When you install the Red Hat Linux, please use "custom" option 
and select all item. ("everything" item)
(Unless you know what item is necessary for network.)

If you follow the above descriptions, you only need to setup NETWORK SETTING.

On GNOME window
1. Network Configurator
   .Start->Run
   .Type "netcfg" on Run Program dialog box
   .Click "Interfaces" item
   .Click "Add" button and select "Ethernet" Interface Type
   .Now you can see the dialog box "Edit Ethernet/Bus Interface" (if is eth0),
    to set your static IP, Netmask, Network, and Broadcast 
    or select Dhcp on the "Interface configuration protocol" scroll.
   .Enable "Activate interface at boot time" 

2. Linuxconf
   .Start->Run
   .Type "linuxconf" on Run Program dialog box
   .Networking->Client tasks->Host name and IP network devices
   .Click "Adaptor 1" item to set "Net device" and "Kernel module"
    Net device: eth0
    Kernel module: pcnet_cs.o (keyin not select on scroll)
   .Click "Accept" button
   .On "File" item to select "Act/Changes" sub-item
   .When you find "Status of the system" message box, click "Do it" button
   .File->Quit to exit Linuxconf  

3. add the following lines into /etc/pcmcia/config:

   .Before update it, please change config file into "writable" mode
    (chmod +w config)

   #
   # Ethernet adapter definitions
   #
  
   card "PCMCIA FAST ETHERNET CARD"	
     version "PCMCIA", "FAST ETHERNET CARD"
     bind "pcnet_cs"					


3. Restart the computer. (# reboot)

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
