AdvanSys UW/U2W/U3W DOS ASPI Manager ------------------------------------ This file contains important information and last-minute changes regarding the AdvanSys UW/U2W/U3W ASPI Manager for DOS. Introduction ------------ ADV3550.SYS is the AdvanSys UW/U2W/U3W ASPI Manager for DOS. It is designed to support the AdvanSys Ultra, Ultra2 and Ultra3 Wide Host Bus Adapters. It will support MS-DOS(tm) version 4.01 and later. ADV3550.SYS is loaded in the CONFIG.SYS file. For a default installation, simply add this line: DEVICE=ADV3550.SYS Command-line options can be added on the same line, separated by forward slashes. For example: DEVICE=ADV3550.SYS /P/V ADV3550.SYS can also be loaded into high memory, if the appropriate memory manager has been installed prior to loading ADV3550. Command-line options -------------------- There are several command-line options that can be used with ADV3550.SYS. Most installations will not require any of these, but there are some circumstances where one or more may be necessary. /NI By default, this option is off because NetWare Installation will hang if this option is specified. However, to enable this option will get better performance when running ASPI application under DOS. /L By default, logical units (LUNs) are not supported by ADV3550.SYS. To enable LUN support, specify this option on the command-line. /P ADV3550 will pause and wait for the user to press a key before continuing once loaded. /V A verbose display will be printed during initialization, showing adapter I/O ports, IRQs, and other miscellaneous information. DEVICE=ADV3550.SYS /P /V Command Queueing and DOS ------------------------ Because DOS is a single-tasking operating system, there is probably no need to enable command queueing in the AdvanSCSI Setup (Ctrl+A). Testing has shown that in some circumstances command queueing will actually degrade performance under DOS.Download Driver Pack
