Who am I? --------- PXE-RPL.ROM : Monolithic PXE Boot ROM + RPL(use INT 19h) Boot ROM for EPROM/flash PXE-DM9.ROM : PXE Boot ROM code only, you can combine it with RPL Boot ROM using DOS COPY command to make a monolithic PXE+RPL Boot ROM by yourself 2. Which Bootstrap Selection Should I use? --------------------------------------- While system booting up, DM9PCI PXE Boot ROM will display a greeting message, current boostrap selection and promt you to hold down both (left and right) sfit keys to pop up the bootstrap selection menu, where you can change the bootstrap selction. If you ignore the message for about 5 seconds, it will use the current bootstrap setting. And if your hold down both the sift key, a bootstrap selection menu will pop up like this: Bootstrap Selection Menu ------------------------ 1 - Disable network boot 2 - Network boot using interrupt 18h 3 - Network boot using interrupt 19h 4 - Network boot using PnP/BEV (BBS) 5 - Network boot using RPL Press 1, 2, 3, 4, 5: The options are described as the following: (1). Disable network boot Disable the Boot ROM and will not try to remote boot through NIC (2). Network boot using interrupt 18h if "Network boot" is supported in your BIOS's boot device order list (3). Network boot using interrupt 19h In the old platform where BIOS did not support BBS (Bios Boot Specification), nor network boot in its boot device list (4). Network boot using PnP/BEV (BBS) If your BIOS support BBS (BIOS Boot Specification) (5). Network boot using RPL Remote network boot using RPL rather than PXE, the RPL BOOT ROM may use INT 18h or INT 19h depends on which RPL code is combined into the monolithic PXE+RPL Boot ROM. 3. How to make a monolithic PXE+RPL Boot ROM by Yourself ----------------------------------------------------- PXE Boot ROM has the bootstrap selection menu to choose which bootstrap approach is used in diffrent platform. However, the boostrap approach used by the RPL Boot ROM is hardcode in the RPL code. So whether RPL use INT 18h ,INT 19 or some other thing depends on which RPL code is combined into the PXE+RPL monolithic Boot ROM. You can make a monolithic PXE+RPL Boot ROM by yourself. 1. Get the RPL Boot ROM code which meets your system requirement. That is, if your system can only remote boot using INT 19h, get the RPL code which uses INT 19h as its bootstrap approach. if your system can only remote boot using INT 18h, get that code image. They may be named like this: RBOOT19.ROM - RPL remote boot using INT 19h RBOOT18.ROM - RPL remote boot using INT 18h 2. using COPY command to combine the PXE Boot ROM with RPL Boot ROM Under DOS command prompt: >COPY /B PXE-DM9.ROM+RBOOT19.ROM PXE-RPL19.ROM or >COPY /B PXE-DM9.ROM+RBOOT18.ROM PXE-RPL18.ROMDownload Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
