3C0M ETHERLINK SERVER CD
------------------------

This 3Com EtherLink Server CD contains diagnostic and configuration
programs as well as drivers for some of today's popular operating
systems along with installation instructions.  This help file
provides an overview of this CD's contents.


    Root Directory
    --------------
    3C90XCFG.EXE: 
        DOS diagnostic program.

    3C90XCFG.PIF
        PIF file to ensure 3C90XCFG.EXE runs in DOS mode only.

    3C90XENG.HLP: 
        Help file for the DOS diagnostic program.

    DASERVER.EXE
        Install file for DynamicAccess support for Windows NT 4.0.

    OEMSETUP.INF: 
        Windows NT 4.0 OEM import file.

    LICENSE.TXT:
        3Com's Software License Agreement for the software on the
        3Com EtherLink Server CD.

    README.TXT:
        Important notes for the 3C980B Fast EtherLink Server NIC.

    ROADMAP.TXT:
        This file, a listing of the CD contents.

    PARTNO:       
        Contains the part number and version of this 3Com EtherLink
        Server CD.

    USRGUIDE.PDF:
        The 3C980B User Guide with detailed information about
        installation and configuration of the drivers and
        server features.

 
    Subdirectories
    --------------
        
    NT351:
        Contains the 3C980B OEMSETUP.INF for NT 3.51. There are no
        server features supported for NT 3.51.

    NWSERVER:  
         Contains a server driver, LDI import file, and appropriate
         server .NLMs for loading into a NetWare 4.1x server, as
         well as some Netware specific installation / configuration
         / README infomation.


    WINNT:  
        Contains NDIS 4.0 miniport driver, and support files specific
        to Windows NT 4.0.

    WIN32:  
        Contains 32-bit Windows applications and support files.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
