1.0 WHAT'S NEW IN RELEASE 142 D

1.1 Release 142 D provides an update to the Windows Mobile 2003
and Pocket PC 2002 driver and utility for the Socket SDIO
Wireless LAN Card.

Driver Version: 3.00.04.2.0030
Utility version: 3.00.04.2.0056.06

These version numbers apply to both WM 2003 and PPC 2002.

This is a minor update that optimizes a background WLAN activity.
User function, performance and compatibility is unaffected.

1.2 Previous Release History

CD Release 142 A: initial release for the Socket SDIO Wireless
LAN Card.

CD Release 142 B: documents-only update to 142 A for the Socket
SDIO Wireless LAN Card. The User's Guide, Quick Start Guide and
Data Sheet were updated to reflect Pocket PC 2002 support in
addition to Pocket PC 2003.

CD Release 142 C:
(a) Fixes an issue with removing the driver and utility through
ActiveSync. Previously, when uninstalling using the ActiveSync
"Add/Remove Programs" utility, files stored on the host PC did
not get removed. This version correctly removes these files.
(b) A minor improvement to the Ping utility has been added.
Specifically, when connected to a local area network, the field
for the IP address to be pinged is automatically populated with
the IP address of the default gateway. Previously, this field
was left blank.
(c) Generally improved robustness across the range of Pocket PC
devices

slot and SDIO Now! software from BSQUARE (www.bsquare.com).
Future software upgrades will be available in the Downloads area
of the Socket web site.

Please visit Socket's website for updates and information on this
product at: www.socketcom.com

2.2 Setup Center Install Process:

Windows Internet Explorer Users -
When prompted with either of the following options during the
install process in the "File Download" window:

Run this program from its current location?
or
Save this program to disk?

You MUST select "Run this program from its current location"

Or

Would you like to open this file or save it to your computer?

You MUST click on the "Open" button.

For the installation process to run without errors.

If you are prompted with the "Security Warning" window, click
Yes to continue.

Netscape Users -
You have the following options:
a) Close Netscape and use Windows Internet Explorer and browse
to the root of the CD and manually launch SETUP.HTM and then
follow the instructions above;
or
b) Exit the Setup Center and browse the CD to the WinCE
directory and manually launch the SETUP.EXE file found in the
directory (not the setup.exe at the root).

2.3 The installation software for Pocket PC 2003 (devices
running Windows Mobile 2003) does not prevent inadvertent
installation on a Pocket PC 2002 device and vice versa. Please
insure that you are attempting to install the correct version of
software on your Pocket PC.

2.4 If the SDIO WLAN card is inserted into a PPC 2003 device
without the driver loaded, no error dialog box will pop up to
notify the user of an unrecognized card.

2.5 When changing Power Save Mode settings in the SDIO WLAN
Utility, the connection may be interrupted. If the connection
is stopped, Windows Zero Config will immediately attempt to
reconnect automatically.

3.0 KNOWN ISSUES IN THIS RELEASE

3.1 IMPORTANT!! On some Pocket PC models, the SDIO slot
implementation is such that any SD/SDIO card (including the SDIO
WLAN card) will continue to draw power even though the Pocket PC
is off (suspended). Please check the following web site for
affected models and latest information:

www.socketcom.com/support/sdio_issues.htm

If you have a listed device, Socket recommends that you DO NOT
LEAVE THE SDIO WLAN CARD OR OTHER SD/SDIO CARD IN THE SLOT IF
SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY ON BATTERY POWER. The battery will
continue to be drained. Socket is working with Pocket PC
manufacturers to resolve these issues.

3.2 On HP iPAQ h2200, h5100, h5400, and h5500 Pocket PCs:
(a) After a suspend and resume, the SDIO WLAN card may not start
up. To properly initialize it, either remove and reinsert the
card, or suspend and resume the Pocket PC again.
(b) On soft reset with the SDIO WLAN card inserted, the card may
not start up. Remove and re-insert the card to properly
initialize it.

For the latest information on these issues, please check:

4.0 WINDOWS CE UNINSTALL PROCEDURES

 c) Tap on SETTINGS
 d) Tap on the SYSTEM Tab or CONTROL PANEL
 e) Double or single tap on the REMOVE PROGRAMS icon
 f) Tap on (Select) the line that says "Socket SDIO WLAN Software"

You will be able to re-install the software on your Windows Mobile
device by simply going back into Microsoft ActiveSync,
TOOLS, ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS window, then re-checking
the "Socket SDIO WLAN Software" item, then clicking OK.
This is possible because a copy of the Low Power SDIO WLAN

necessary to remove it.

Option 2: To Uninstall from your Host PC
