   Mitsumi FX001 Driver (see Appendix D.3 CD ROM Driver)
   =====================================================

   Mitsumi double speed CD ROM driver (SGCDF.SYS) have been removed from the
   utility disk. If you are having the above drive, used the original driver
   that comes with your Mitsumi drive.

   Mixer Utility for Windows
   =========================

   The Windows mixer utility for your sound card now has an additional volume
   control, WSynth, for the Wave Table Synthesis hardware module (optional -
   only if you have a Wave Table Synthesis upgrade card). As a result, the Pro
   Mixer:Play Control interface has been changed.

   In addition, the Pro Mixer:Record Control screen has also been changed to
   include a new recording source for the Wave Table Synthesis.

   Using Digital (.WAV) Audio with DOS 6.0's DoubleSpace*
   ======================================================

   The DoubleSpace utility included with DOS 6.0 can cause problems
   if you attempt to play or record "high data rate" (i.e.: stereo/
   44.1kHz/16-bit) digital audio to or from a compressed disk. In
   DOSDAT or WinDAT, the symptom will be a "Disk Could Not Keep Up
   With Digital Audio" error message, or in some cases the program
   may even crash.

   Therefore, if you anticipate that you will be playing or recording
   a lot of stereo/44.1kHz/16-bit digital audio, you should set up a
   non-compressed drive partition and configure both DOSDAT and WinDAT
   to use this drive as their Work and Temp directories. In both
   programs this is done from the Setup window.

   For information on setting up a non-compressed partition for your
   hard drive, refer to your DOS 6.0 Users Guide.

   * The same procedure should be followed if you are using Stacker, a
     third-party disk compression utility.

   Changes To Audiostation v1.11 and later
   =======================================

   The user interface for Audiostation v1.11 and later has been changed
   slightly in order to make it easier to use.

   To go to the last or first item in a MIDI, CD, or DAT playlist, you
   should click on the Next or Previous button while holding down the
   [Shift] key on your computer keyboard. This was previously
   accomplished by double-clicking on the Next or Previous buttons.

   The CD Module's Playlist window now includes a Next button that makes
   it easier when you're naming tracks for a CD playlist. Once you've
   entered the name for a track, either click on the Next button or press
   the Enter key to name the next track.

   There are also several amendments to the Mixer Module:

   * Additional Volume Control Slider (WS) for Wave Table Synthesis.

      This pair of stereo sliders allow you to control the playback or
      recording level of the Wave Table Synthesis hardware module on your
      sound card (optional - only if you have a Wave Table Synthesis
      upgrade card).

   *  Selection of Recording Source(s).

      The Mixer Module allows you to select the audio source(s) you want to
      record from, CD Audio Input (CD), FM Synthesis (FM), Line Input (Line),
      Microphone (Mic) or Wave Table Synthesis (WS).

      The selection of an audio source for recording is now done through the
      "check box" found on the side of the source's label.

      For example, if you wish to record from the Microphone source, you
      would simply use the mouse pointer to click on the check box beside the
      Mic label. A red box would indicate that the recording source has been
      activated.

   *  Tone Controls

      The controls for the Bass and Treble Levels are now represented by
      sliders. To adjust the Bass and Treble settings, simply move the
      respective sliders up (increase) or down (decrease).

   Notes About Using EMM386.EXE
   ============================

   When running applications with EMM386.EXE installed, the following
   error message may appear:

      "EMM386 DMA buffer is too small"

   You can overcome this problem in two ways:

      - remove the EMM386.EXE entry from the CONFIG.SYS file

      OR

      - add the following parameter to the EMM386.EXE entry in the
        CONFIG.SYS file:

           D=64

           where D specifies how many kilobytes of memory should be
           reserved for buffered Direct Memory Access (DMA).

        An example of this may be:

           C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE D=64
