                        3Com (R) Corporation
                   	EtherCD (R) for the
               3Com 10/100 PCI NIC w/3XP (3C990B)
                    Troubleshooting Information

If the NIC diagnostic tests fail using the 3Com Configuration and
Diagnostic program for DOS, the NIC may not be defective. Check the
following:

1. Make sure that the NIC is completely seated in its slot. Review
the installation and troubleshooting instructions in the NIC
    user guide.

2. Make sure that the configuration setting for the media type is
    correct.

3. The slot in the computer may be defective. Install the NIC in
another slot and run the tests again.

4. The computer in which the NIC is installed may be defective.
Install the NIC in a known functioning computer and run the tests
    again.

5. Replace the failed NIC with a known working NIC with the same
configuration. Run the tests again. If the second NIC fails,
something is probably wrong with the test environment, not with
    the NIC.
