ÿþEND USER LICENSE AGREEMENT



ATTENTION: PLEASE READ THIS DOCUMENT BEFORE INSTALLING THE LICENSED SOFTWARE.



This is a license agreement ( Agreement ) between you (either an individual or an entity) and Canon Inc., having its place of business at 30-2 Shimomaruko 3-chome, Ohta-ku, Tokyo 146-8501, Japan ("Canon"), with respect to (i) software programs provided to you with this Agreement, its associated electronic or online manuals, and updates thereof, if any (collectively, the "Software"), (ii) additional data for the Software or Canon s inkjet printers ( Printers ) or updates to firmware for the Printers, provided online using the Software ( Data Updates ), and (iii) text, images, graphics and other visual representations in digital format (excluding the Software) for your printing use, provided with this Agreement or provided online using the Software, and updates thereof, if any ("Contents Data").  Software, Data Updates and Contents Data shall hereinafter be referred to individually or collectively as the "Licensed Software".



BY CLICKING THE BUTTON PROVIDED WITH THIS AGREEMENT INDICATING YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THIS AGREEMENT, OR OTHERWISE INSTALLING THE LICENSED SOFTWARE YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT.  IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT, DO NOT CLICK THE FOREGOING BUTTON AND PROMPTLY CLOSE THE INSTALLATION PROGRAM.  THE LICENSED SOFTWARE WILL THEN NOT BE INSTALLED AND YOU WILL HAVE NO RIGHT TO USE IT.  You agree to use the Licensed Software only in accordance with the terms set forth below.



1. Ownership and Copyright:  All right, title and interest in the Licensed Software is owned by Canon or its licensors.  Canon or its licensors shall at all times retain all copyright and other intellectual property rights in the Licensed Software and all subsequent copies thereof regardless of form, including the Print (as defined below).  Except as expressly provided herein, no license or right, express or implied, is hereby conveyed or granted by Canon to you for any intellectual property of Canon and its licensors.  You shall not modify, remove or delete any copyright notice of Canon and/or its licensors contained in the Licensed Software and all subsequent copies thereof regardless of form.



2. License:  Your license to use the Licensed Software is non-exclusive and non-transferable:



(1)  You are permitted to use the Software ("use" shall mean installing, executing or displaying the Software) on your multiple computers.  You shall not rent, lease, sublicense, loan, sell, assign, convey, and transfer the Software.



(2)  You are permitted to use the Data Updates ("use" shall mean installing, executing or displaying the Data Updates) on your multiple computers or Printers.  You shall not rent, lease, sublicense, loan, sell, assign, convey, and transfer the Data Updates.



(3)  You are permitted to copy and use the Contents Data ("use" shall mean downloading via the internet using the Software, installing, executing or displaying the Contents Data) on your multiple computers for your own personal use.  You shall not rent, lease, sublicense, loan, sell, assign, convey nor transfer the Contents Data.  You are also permitted to print the Contents Data and to use, have used, copy, have copied and distribute such prints ( Print ) for your own non-commercial purposes.  You shall not use, have used, copy, have copied nor distribute the Print for commercial purposes.  Canon shall not be liable for your use of the Print, nor any claim and suit against you arising from or in any way related to the use of the Print, including any liability or expense arising from all claims, losses, damages, suits, judgments, litigation costs and attorneys' fees.



(4)  You are permitted to make a reasonable number of back-up copies of the Licensed Software in support of the permitted use, provided that all such copies include the Canon copyright notice as it appears in the original copy of the Licensed Software provided to you.



Except as expressly provided herein, you shall not rent, lease, sub-license, loan, sell, assign, convey, transfer, copy, reproduce, modify, adapt, merge, translate, convert to another programming language, reverse-engineer, decompile, alter, disassemble or create derivative works based in whole or in part on the Licensed Software, nor permit any third party to do so, or to use the Licensed Software, except as expressly permitted by this Agreement and except to the extent and in the circumstances expressly permitted by law.



3. Acknowledgement of Transmission of Information:   You expressly acknowledge and agree that (i) some Software may transmit information such as name and serial number of the Printers you use, type of the Software, language setting, ink information, Printer condition, region and type of OS/browser (provided that the transmitted information does not include your personal information), in order to provide you with information and data best suited to your printer environment when you access servers of Canon or any third party designated by Canon; and that (ii) Canon, its subsidiaries and affiliates, and their respective distributors and dealers may analyze and use such information for its product development and services.



4. Export Restriction:  You agree to comply with all export laws and restrictions and regulations of each country involved, as well as with the U.S. Export Administration Regulations ("EAR"), and not to export or re-export, directly or indirectly, the Licensed Software in violation of such laws, restrictions and regulations, or without all necessary approvals.



5. Termination:  This Agreement is effective when you click the button provided with this Agreement indicating your acceptance of this Agreement or otherwise upon installation of the Licensed Software, and remains in effect until terminated.  You may terminate this Agreement by destroying the Licensed Software including any and all copies (excluding the Data Updates installed on the Printers).  This Agreement may also be terminated if you fail to comply with any of its terms and conditions.  Upon termination for any reason whatsoever, you shall immediately destroy all copies of the Licensed Software including any Licensed Software stored on the hard disk of any computer in your possession, power or control, but excluding the Data Updates installed on the Printers.  In addition, Canon is entitled to exercise any contractual or legal rights, powers or remedies it may have.  Notwithstanding the foregoing, Sections 1, 3, 5 through 9 shall survive any termination hereof.



6. Support and Update:  Canon, its subsidiaries and affiliates, and their respective distributors and dealers and Canon s Licensors, are not responsible for maintaining or assisting your use of the Licensed Software.  Canon, its subsidiaries and affiliates, and their respective distributors and dealers and Canon s Licensors, are not obligated to provide any updates, fixes or support to the Licensed Software unless otherwise expressly agreed in writing between you and any of the above entities.



7. LIMITED WARRANTY:  THE LICENSED SOFTWARE IS LICENSED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OR CONDITION OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES AS TO MERCHANTABILITY, QUALITY AND/OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT OF ANY RIGHT, TITLE AND INTEREST, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY.



THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE LICENSED SOFTWARE IS WITH YOU.  SHOULD THE LICENSED SOFTWARE PROVE DEFECTIVE, YOU (AND NOT CANON, ITS SUBSIDIARIES AND AFFILIATES AND THEIR RESPECTIVE DISTRIBUTORS AND DEALERS AND CANON S LICENSORS) ASSUME THE ENTIRE COST OF ALL NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR OR CORRECTION.



SOME STATES OR LEGAL JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS, SO THE ABOVE EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.  THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS AND YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS WHICH VARY FROM STATE TO STATE OR JURISDICTION TO JURISDICTION.



CANON DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE FUNCTIONS CONTAINED IN THE LICENSED SOFTWARE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS OR THAT THE OPERATION OF THE LICENSED SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR FREE.  However, if the Licensed Software is provided on a medium, such as a CD-ROM, Canon warrants the medium on which the Licensed Software is stored to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for a period of ninety (90) days from the date when you obtained the same as evidenced by a receipt or by other means acceptable to Canon.



CUSTOMER REMEDIES:  Canon, its subsidiaries and affiliates, their respective distributors and dealers and Canon s licensors' entire liability and your exclusive remedy shall be the replacement of the medium not meeting the LIMITED WARRANTY and which is returned to Canon's local sales subsidiary operating in the country where you obtained the Licensed Software with a copy of the receipt or by other means acceptable to Canon.  The LIMITED WARRANTY does not apply if failure of the medium resulted from accident, abuse or misapplication of the Licensed Software and shall not extend to anyone other than the original user of the Licensed Software.



8. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES.  THE LIMITED WARRANTY THAT APPEARS ABOVE IS THE ONLY WARRANTY MADE TO YOU AND IT IS PROVIDED IN LIEU OF ALL WARRANTIES, CONDITIONS, REPRESENTATIONS, UNDERTAKINGS, TERMS AND OBLIGATIONS IMPLIED BY STATUTE, COMMON LAW, TRADE USAGE, COURSE OF DEALING OR OTHERWISE, ALL OF WHICH ARE HEREBY DISCLAIMED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.



9. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY:  TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL EITHER CANON, ITS SUBSIDIARIES AND AFFILIATES, THEIR RESPECTIVE DISTRIBUTORS AND DEALERS OR CANONS LICENSORS BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL SPECIAL OR OTHER DAMAGES WHATSOEVER (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF BUSINESS PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION OR LOSS OF BUSINESS INFORMATION), WHETHER OR NOT CANON, ITS SUBSIDIARIES AND AFFILIATES, THEIR RESPECTIVE DISTRIBUTORS AND DEALERS OR CANONS LICENSOR HAD BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.  IN ANY EVENT, THE ENTIRE LIABILITY OF CANON, ON BEHALF OF ITSELF AND ITS SUBSIDIARIES AND AFFILIATES, THEIR RESPECTIVE DISTRIBUTORS AND DEALERS AND ANY OF CANONS LICENSORS, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THIS AGREEMENT WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, NEGLIGENCE) OR OTHERWISE SHALL BE LIMITED TO FIVE US DOLLARS (US$5.00) OR THE EQUIVALENT AMOUNT IN THE RELEVANT LOCAL CURRENCY.



NOTHING IN THIS AGREEMENT SHALL AFFECT THE STATUTORY RIGHTS OF A CONSUMER.



10. General:  This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between you and Canon with respect to the Licensed Software and supersedes any prior oral or written representations, agreements or understandings with respect to the Licensed Software.  Neither party shall have any remedy in respect of any statement made to it upon which it relied in entering into this Agreement (unless such statement was made fraudulently) and that party's only remedy shall be for breach of contract as provided for in this Agreement.



If at any time any part of this Agreement is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be wholly or partly illegal, invalid or unenforceable in any respect under the law of any jurisdiction that fact shall not affect or impair the legality, validity or enforceability of any other provision of this Agreement.



The failure or delay of Canon in exercising any right, power or remedy under this Agreement shall not in any circumstance operate as a waiver of such right, power or remedy.



No variation to this Agreement shall be effective unless in writing and signed by an authorized representative of Canon.



The provisions of this Agreement, in so far as it relates to Canon's subsidiaries and/or affiliates, are directly enforceable by such Canon's subsidiaries and/or affiliates.

This Privacy Policy (the "Privacy Policy") describes information that Canon Inc. ("Canon") collects from users of the "Service" defined in Article 1 hereof throughout the world (subject to certain exceptions) and how this information is used and disclosed.

By using the Service, you expressly agree to the collection, use and disclosure of information as described in the Privacy Policy and Service Terms of Use (the "Terms"). If you do not agree to the terms of the Privacy Policy or the Terms, you may not use the Service. The Privacy Policy supersedes any other privacy policy of Canon in connection with the Service.



1. Definition of the Service



The "Service" shall mean online services mainly for users of printer to provide them with various benefits.



The Service includes the following services;

(1) The service to print, edit or otherwise process image or document file or other contents ("Content") posted on the social networking service, image sharing service or other online service which are separately operated by Canon or any third party ("Linked Service") or other Content;

(2) The service to upload the Content to the Linked Service; and

(3) The service to check status of printer (remaining ink amount, printing job, etc.) from remote locations.

You can use the Service through the operation panel of the printer and portal site operated by Canon ("Canon Site").



2. Information that Canon collects



2.1 Canon may collect the following information from you:



(a) information about the printer you have registered in order to use the Service (the "Registered Printer");

(b) user name and password you have set in order to use the Linked Service;

(c) information that you provide when you contact Canon; and

(d) images, documents and other content (for example, photographs) that you print on the Registered Printer or otherwise process through the Service.



2.2 When you use the service, Canon automatically collects information including:



(a) an identifier that is unique to the Registered Printer;

(b) information regarding access to Canon Site such as browser environment data, language setting and time zone;

(c) information about the Registered Printer such as product number, language setting and ink information;

(d) Internet Protocol (IP) address;

(e) domain name of your Internet service provider;

(f) Canon Site pages you visited and the date and time of the visits;

(g) log of your use of the Service; and

(h) statistics or any anonymous information that cannot be used to specifically identify you.



2.3 Canon may combine all or part of information Canon collects from or about you and use it in the manner described in the Privacy Policy.



3. Use of Information



Canon may use the information described in Article 2 hereof (the "Information") for the following purposes:



(a) to register you to use the Service;

(b) to provide you with the Service and any other service that you request;

(c) to contact you with regard to your use of the Service for contractual reasons;

(d) to improve the Service;

(e) the purposes for which you provided the Information;

(f) to identify an user of the Service;

(g) to respond to inquiries;

(h) to protect you and others as well as Canon and its business;

(i) to administer and troubleshoot the Service; or

(j) as otherwise stated in the Privacy Policy or the Terms.



4. Disclosure of Information



The Information may be disclosed to third parties in accordance with the Privacy Policy.



4.1 You may voluntarily provide the Content to third parties through your use of the Service. Canon makes no representations and undertakes no obligations as to the security or use of the Content or the system used to process it.



CANON RECOMMENDS THAT YOU DO NOT USE THE SERVICE FOR PROCESSING ANY CONTENT THAT IS CRITICAL AS TO ITS ARRIVAL OR ITS ACCURACY OR SECURITY, THAT YOU WANT TO KEEP PRIVATE OR THAT NEEDS TO BE KEPT PRIVATE OR CONFIDENTIAL (FOR EXAMPLE, MEDICAL, FINANCIAL AND OTHER SENSITIVE INFORMATION). Before using the Service, please read the Terms carefully.



4.2 Canon may share the Information with its subsidiaries in order for them to perform part of the Service on Canon's behalf or for other purposes consistent with the Privacy Policy. Canon's subsidiaries will be required to maintain the Information in accordance with the Privacy Policy.



4.3 Canon may use third party service providers and business partners to provide the Service or to perform functions in connection with the Service and may share the Information with them. These third party service providers and business partners are prohibited from using the Information for any purpose other than to perform their functions and are required to keep the Information confidential.



4.4 Canon may disclose the Information to third parties:



(a) to comply with any law, regulation or court order, in response to a subpoena or similar investigative demand, court order or a request for cooperation from law enforcement, a governmental agency or a private party;

(b) to enforce the Terms or other agreements or policies;

(c) to exercise or defend Canon's legal rights or as otherwise required by law (in such cases, Canon may raise or waive any legal objection available to Canon);

(d) when Canon believes disclosure is appropriate in connection with efforts to investigate, prevent or take other action regarding illegal activity, suspected fraud or other wrongdoing; or

(e) to protect and defend the rights, property or safety of Canon, its businesses, customers or employees or others.



4.5 If Canon becomes involved in a sale, merger, acquisition, sale of assets or a business, divestiture, consolidation, securities offering, bankruptcy, reorganization, dissolution or other transaction or if the ownership of all or substantially all of Canon's business otherwise changes, Canon may disclose or transfer all or part of the Information to a third party or third parties in connection therewith.



4.6 Canon may share the aggregated information generated from the Information that cannot be used to identify you with third parties.



5. Cookies



When you visit Canon Site or use the Service, Canon may send to your Registered Printer one or more "cookies". A cookie is a small text file that contains information that can later be read by Canon to facilitate your access to Canon Site or use of the Service and personalize your online experience. For example, if you visit Canon Site, Canon will record your account information in a cookie file on your Registered Printer.



6. Google Analytics

Canon may collect the information specified in Article 2.2 using by Google Analytics as analytics tool, and such information is transmitted through Google LLC. Canon may use such information in combination with other information.

7. Protection of Information



Canon takes reasonable precautions to safeguard the Information that you submit to Canon Site and the Service against loss, theft, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. However, Canon cannot ensure or warrant the security of the Information Canon receives or collects and you provide Canon with the Information at your own risk. No Internet transmission is ever fully secure or error free. Information sent to or from Canon Site and the Service may not be secure; the Service does not encrypt the Content. You should use caution whenever submitting the Information online and take special care in deciding what information to send to Canon Site and the Service.



8. Retention of Information



Canon shall retain the Information for a necessary period to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected and to comply with applicable laws. Please note that any Content received by Canon's server through the Service will be deleted from Canon's server after such Content has been printed or otherwise processed or as described in the Terms if such Content has not been processed, unless you save the Content temporarily on Canon's server.



9. Choices regarding Information



9.1 You may alter or delete parts of the Information by accessing Canon Site or operating the Registered Printer; however, this may affect the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the Information.



9.2 You may choose not to provide certain information to Canon; however, then, you may not be able to register to use the Service or enjoy all or part of the functions of the Service.



10. Consent to Transfer, Processing and Storage of Information



The servers for providing the Service are installed in Federal Republic of Germany and Japan. Personal information and Content is transferred to, processed and stored in such servers in Federal Republic of Germany. Non-personal information is transferred to, processed and stored in such servers in Federal Republic of Germany and Japan.



The Information may be transferred to, processed in and stored in different countries which may have different levels of privacy protection than apply in your country. Please note that some or all of the Information may be provided to third party service providers and may be held by them in countries other than your own. You acknowledge and understand that the Information will be subject to the applicable laws of each such jurisdiction, which may not provide for the same protection as your country of residence.



11. Intended Age



Canon does not knowingly collect personal information from individuals who have not reached adult status in the country or region of their residence. Any individual who has not reached adult status should not register for or otherwise process any personal information or the Content through Canon Site or the Service. Where there is reason to believe that Canon may have accidentally received personal information from an individual who has not reached adult status, please contact Canon immediately at the contact address described in Article 14 hereof.



12. Third Party Online Service or Website



You may access the online service operated by any third party when using the Service, or third party website through hypertext or other computer link on the Site. These services or websites managed by third-parties may use their own cookies, web beacons and other technologies to independently collect information about you. Such access or link from Canon Site does not imply that Canon endorses or has reviewed these services or websites of third-parties. The policies and procedures Canon describes here do not apply to these services or websites of third-parties. Canon neither can control nor is responsible for the privacy practices or the content of these service or website of third party. Canon encourages you to contact these services or websites of third-parties directly for information on their privacy policies.



13. Modification



Canon reserves the right to modify the Privacy Policy at any time at its sole discretion without prior notice. When the Privacy Policy is modified, Canon notifies the modified Privacy Policy to you, and it becomes effective on notification. The Privacy Policy was made effective on the date indicated below.

<Using Google Drive> When using Google Drive through the Service, you give Canon a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, sublicensable, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to Use Content submitted, posted, or displayed to or from the Service. "Use" means use, host, store, modify, communicate, and publish. The license is granted for the sole purpose of enabling Google Inc. to provide, protect, and improve its APIs, developer services, and related software. Before you submit Content to the Service, you will ensure that you have the necessary rights (including the necessary rights from your end users) to grant Canon the license. These terms and conditions are provided in Google APIs Terms of Service. If Google APIs Terms of Service change, or if there are any inconsistencies between Google APIs Terms of Service and this Article, Google APIs Terms of Service shall prevail. 

<Using OneDrive> When using Microsoft Corporation's OneDrive through the Service, you understand that Microsoft Corporation may need, and you hereby grant Canon the sublicensable right, to use, modify, adapt, reproduce, distribute, and display Content made available through the Service solely to the extent necessary for Microsoft Corporation to provide the OneDrive APIs, OneDrive, or Microsoft Corporation accounts. When using the Service, you may need to install a Microsoft application. These terms and conditions are provided in Microsoft Corporation's OneDrive API Terms and Conditions. If the OneDrive API Terms and Conditions change, or if there are any inconsistencies between the OneDrive API Terms and Conditions and this Article, the OneDrive API Terms and Conditions shall prevail.

<Using Dropbox> When using Dropbox, Inc.'s Dropbox through the Service, you shall use the Service after understanding the contents of the Service. This condition is provided in Dropbox, Inc.'s Dropbox Developer Terms and Conditions. If the Dropbox Developer Terms and Conditions change, or if there are any inconsistencies between the Dropbox Developer Terms and Conditions and this Article, the Dropbox Developer Terms and Conditions shall prevail.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
