Microsoft Smart Card Base Components
=====================================
1) User needs to install Microsoft Smart Card Base Components (ver 1.0 or later) before proceeding to install this setup program.  Microsoft SmartCard Base Components can be download from the following website: 
       http://www.microsoft.com/security/tech/smartcards/components.asp
This page contains a link to the Base Components (sbase.exe) as well as the update of the Base Components (smclib.exe). 

2) User does not need to reboot the PC before proceeding to the next installation.


PC/SC SwapSmart USB Reader Installation 
========================================
1) Remove the USB reader before begin installation.
2) During installation, a messagebox will prompt for overwriting an older version of smclib driver, click "yes" and proceed.
3) A messagebox will prompt user to plug in the USB reader before selecting to reboot the PC. If Add New Hardware Wizards is activated at this stage, just click on Cancel Button to proceed.


TestResMgn.exe
===============
The 'TestResMan' utility can be used to send commands to either a reader or an inserted smart card. This is useful for basic demos or the verification of compatibility issues with specific smart cards, etc. For more information, please read the TestResmgr.doc


Additional Notes :
=================== 
1) Resource Manager will not function if user bootup PC without any PC/SC-compliant reader present. Hence the 'TestResMan' utility will not work if PC is booted without the USB reader or the USB reader is plugged in after PC is booted.

2) Avoid unplugging the USB reader while the PC is running.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
