DiO2448 driver version 5.00.2195.2



Systemrequirements:
Pentium 200MMX or compatible
32MB RAM
Windows 98, ME, 2000 (Windows 98SE recommended)
for Windows 2000 service pack 1 is recommended
for Windows 95 please use driver version 4.x, this OS doesn't support WDM-based drivers.

ASIO or EASI based harddisk recording software, if you use Windows application with no ASIO or EASI support please use driver version 4.x,
many applications support WDM-based drivers only in 16 bits, not in 24 bits.



Installation Win98SE/ME/2000

Preparation:
If you don't have a driver CD-ROM (November 2000 or newer), create a floppy disk by double clicking on the zipped driver file dio21951.exe and add path A:\ and click "Unzip".

- Turn off your computer 
- Open your Computer and insert card in an unused PCI slot (mostly white slot, between brown AGP and black ISA slots).
- Screw tight the card and close your computer. 
- Start your computer
- Insert driver CD-ROM or disk
- Automatic hardware notification of Windows starts. Windows finds new hardware "PCI Audio Device". 
- Klick on CONTINUE. 
- for Windows ME select AUTOMATIC and CONTINUE, Windows ME finds VxD-based driver automatically on your driver CD-ROM or floppy disk.
- for Windows 98 select SEARCH FOR BEST DRIVER. Klick on OTHER SOURCES and select Select DiO2448.INF file on the floppy disk, or on your driver CD-ROM, subfolder DiO2448, subfolder W2K. OK and CONTINUE.
- Klick on CONTINUE and FINISH.
- While installation Windows-CD-ROM is required.
- It is recommended to restart your computer


Windows 98SE/ME Uninstallation
- Klick on DiO2448 in Windows device manager and select "remove".
- to remove the setup information delete the DiO2448.INF file, this file is located in your WINDOWS\INF\OTHER folder.



Installation Windows 2000 SP1

Preparation:
If you don't have a driver CD-ROM (November 2000 or newer), create a floppy disk by double clicking on the zipped driver file dio21951.exe and add path A:\ and klick "Unzip".

- Turn off your computer and unplug the power cord from the back of the machine. 
- Open your Computer and insert card in an unused PCI slot (mostly white slot, between brown APG and black ISA slots).
- Screw tight the card and close your computer. 
- Start your computer
- Insert driver CD-ROM or disk
- Automatic hardware notification of Windows starts. Windows finds new hardware "Audiocontroller". 
- Klick on CONTINUE. (Welcome)
- Klick on CONTINUE. (Select Driver)
- Select Path FLOPPY DRIVE if you have the driver on a self created floppy disk, CONTINUE.
- Select OTHER SOURCES for CD-ROM installation, CONTINUE.
- Select DiO2448.INF file on the floppy disk, or on your driver CD-ROM, subfolder DiO2448, subfolder W2K.
- If path is added, klick on OK and CONTINUE.
- Ignore driver signification error message by klicking on YES.
- Klick on CONTINUE and FINISH.
- It is recommended to restart your computer


Windows 2000 Uninstallation
- Click with right mouse button on DiO2448 in Windows device manager and select "Uninstall".
- to remove the setup information delete the DiO2448-INF file, named OEM?.INF, number depends on the quantity of installed hardware,
  (p.e. OEM0.INF if DiO2448 was the first installation of a unknown hardware, OEM1.INF the second hardware...)
  this file is located in your WINDOWS folder.



DiO2448 Volume Settings

All special settings of the DiO 2448 are accessible via the mixer panels advanced settings buttons. 
If these buttons do not appear in your mixer, you have to enable them in the options menu of the volume controlpanel (by selecting 'Advanced Controls').
There is a playback and a recording panel:

playback panel controlles:
Master Volume (volume of all ins and outs)
Wave Volume (playback volume of wave playback)
S/W Synthesizer (playback volume of emulated synthesizer playbackthis signal cannot be recorded)
CD (monitor volume of the CD-inputs, this signal cannot be recorded)
Wave Monitor (monitor volume of the analog output, this device only supports 16Bits, there will be no analog out in 24Bits mode)

advanced settings monitor:
- select MONITOR S/PDIF IN to rout S/PDIF In directly to the analog output.
- select LOOP S/PDIF IN TO S/PDIF OUT to rout S/PDIF In directly to the digital output.

advanced settings volume:
- select ENABLE 24Bit IN/OUT to activate 24Bits mode.
- select SET S/PDIF TO 48KHz to the lock digital output to 48KHz.

advanced settings S/PDIF in:
- selecet INVERSE S/PDIF IN if you get a distorted output caused by a inverted S/PDIF in signal.



DiO2448 ASIO/EASI Setup

If you're using EASI/ASIO with a midi/audio sequencer be sure to disable the software synthezizer since it blocks the ASIO/EASI output stream. 

- In Cubase this is done in the MME device setup controlpanel (setupmme.exe).

- In Logic Audio you have to edit the win.ini entry:
  [Logic]
  MidiOut_Microsoft_GS_Wavetable_SW_Synth=0 <- this entry has to be set to 0

You can control the latency time of DiO2448 by reducing the buffersize in the ASIO/EASI control panel, called fron your ASIO/EASI software.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
