1.0 WHAT'S NEW IN THIS SOCKETSCAN CE RELEASE

1.1 This is the first production release of SocketScan that supports
the Cordless Hand Scanner(CHS) on Pocket PC2003(Windows Mobile)
devices. Please review Section 2.0 'Known Issues' and the printed
Release Notes included in the CHS package before using this new
 product.

1.2 SocketScan CE version 3.7 provides support for all Socket's bar
code scanning products (except the CHS mentioned above) on the
following mobile computers: Pocket PC 2000/2002/2003, HPC Pros and
HPC2000 devices running Windows CE v3.0 or higher.

1.3 Several bugs involving the display in Windows applications of
data from scanned bar codes containing Asian double-byte characters
have been fixed in this release.

NOTE: Socket file naming conventions have been changed to better fit
Pocket PC displays. Please see the URGENT notice under Release
Notes below if you currently have an older version of SocketScan
installed on your Windows CE device.

2.0 KNOWN ISSUES WITH THIS RELEASE

2.1 The Cordless Hand Scanner (CHS) has several issues as described
in the printed Release Notes included with each unit and also in the
CHS User's Guide. The primary CHS issues are:

2.1.1 If the CHS user attempts to scan as quickly as possible, the
Bluetooth transmissions can become corrupted to the extent that
SocketScan freezes. Recovery from this condition varies depending
on the Bluetooth product (stack) being used.

2.1.2 When connected to any host using the Widcomm Bluetooth stack,
near the edge of the connection range the transmission of scanned
data fails even though the CHS remains connected. When this occurs,
SocketScan on on the host must be turned off and on and the
  Bluetooth connection re-established.

2.1.3 When connected to any host using the Widcomm Bluetooth stack,
the SocketScan Dynamic Reconnection feature may fail to work
correctly if the host suspends (or is turned off) and then resumes
  (or is turned back on).

2.2 SocketScan "Symbology Selector" application is not supported
when using the ISC-Imager. The User must install the ISC-I Demo
Application in order to enable/disable symbologies and set symbology
parameters. These functions will be added in a later release of
 SocketScan.

2.3 The SocketScan "Scan Demo" application does not display the
symbology type when using the ISC-Imager. This function will be
added to a later release of SocketScan.

2.4 SocketScan has a number of problems supporting the SDIO
 In-Hand Scan Card in a Toshiba Genio E400 Pocket PC2003 running a
Japanese version of the operating system. We are working with
 Microsoft to resolve this issue.

2.5 Support for the following older Socket Bar Code Wand and Laser
Scanner System products has been removed from this version of
 SocketScan:
8010-00072/8510-00085 Rev E & older Bar Code Wand PC Card Systems
8010-00076/8510-00091 Rev C & older Bar Code Wand CF Card Systems
8010-00084/8510-00104 Rev A Laser Scanner 2104 PC Card Systems
8010-00118/8510-00139 Rev A Laser Scanner 2104 CF Card Systems
8010-00098/8510-00108 Rev A Laser Scanner 4004 PC Card Systems
Older versions of SocketScan will remain available on the Download
page of the Socket web site to support these products.

2.6 The power required to operate the ISC-Imager and the Laser
Scanner System with Socket's new S-2208 gun may approach the
maximum power supplied to the CF Card slot by some mobile devices.
Under certain circumstances of low battery status or old batteries,
the use of these higher performance scanning devices may exceed the
power available from the host, causing the device to perform a soft
 reset.

3.0 RELEASE NOTES

3.1 URGENT: When loading SocketScan on any CE device, any existing
version of SocketScan must first be uninstalled from both your
CE device and your Host PC. Because of a change in Socket naming
conventions, the new version will not replace the older version
and a second SocketScan directory will be created. Please see
Section 4.0 below for detailed uninstall procedures.

3.2 URGENT: This software must be installed directly from this CD.
When launching the CD and installing the software in Internet
Explorer, a "File Download" window appears with the options to
either "Run this program from it's current location" or "Save
this program to disk". You must choose to "Run this program from
it's current location". When the Security Warning screen appears,
 click Yes to continue.

Because Netscape does not offer the option of running the program
from the CD, Netscape cannot be used to install this software. If
Netscape is set as the default browser on your system, open the
Internet Explorer that came with your Windows operating system,
click on File, then Open, browse to the CD and open setup.htm.

3.3 The Palm-size PC v2.01 and v2.11 (the first versions of these
units) are not supported. Though SocketScan may install to one of
these devices, it is not guaranteed to work.

--OR--

Option 2
To uninstall software on your mobile device while connected to
your Host PC, follow these steps on the Host PC:
  a) Please remove the Socket scanning product from your mobile
device and close the SocketScan software. Failure to do this
will prevent completion of the uninstall process.

Regardless of which of these two methods you use to uninstall the
SocketScan software, you will be able to re-install the software
on your Windows CE device by simply going back into the Microsoft
ActiveSync, TOOLS, ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS window, then checking the
box for "Socket SocketScan", then clicking OK.

--OR-

Option 3
To completely uninstall the software from both your mobile device
