The following document contains upgrade instructions for:
* Windows 95/98
* Windows NT
* Windows 3.1 and DOS
DVD-115 MB/ME Firmware Upgrade Procedure for Win 95/98
1. Create a folder on the C: drive and name it upgrade
2. Double click on the A115M file and unzip it to the upgrade folder
3. Find the IDE connection of the DVD-ROM drive:
IDE1 (Master or Slave) or IDE2 (Master or Slave). Refer to the
following chart and note the number (0, 1, 2 or 3). You will
need this number for step 7.

4. Reboot your computer and hold down the F8 key upon start up to
boot to a command prompt
5. Select option 5 "Command Prompt Only"
6. Switch to the upgrade directory by typing the following at the
command prompt: cd upgrade
7. Type the following at c\upgrade:
uppio /x DVD115.hex
Note: x is the location of your DVD-ROM drive from step 3
The screen should display "now code updating..." The command
prompt will appear when the firmware update is complete.
8. Reboot your computer

1. Double click on the A115M file and unzip it to a folder
2. Make a bootable diskette in a Windows 9x operating system
3. Copy the following files to the bootable diskette
UPPIO.EXE
DVD115.HEX
Note: These files will be in the folder from step 1
4. Find the IDE connection of the DVD-ROM drive:
IDE1 (Master or Slave) or IDE2 (Master or Slave). Refer to the
following chart and note the number (0, 1, 2 or 3). You will
need this number for step 6.

5. Boot the computer using this diskette. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
RE-PROGRAM THE DRIVE FROM A DOS WINDOW.
6. After the computer completes the boot sequence, issue the
following command at the DOS prompt:
UPPIO /x DVD115.HEX
Note: x is the location of your DVD-ROM drive from step 4
7. DO NOT ABORT THE PROGRAM OR POWER CYCLE THE SYSTEM UNTIL THE
PROGRAM SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES.
The screen should display "now code updating..." The command
prompt will appear when the firmware update is complete.
8. Remove the diskette and reboot your computer

1. Find the IDE connection of the DVD-ROM drive:
IDE1 (Master or Slave) or IDE2 (Master or Slave). Refer to the
following chart and note the number (0, 1, 2 or 3). You will
need this number for steps 3 and 6.

2. Make a bootable diskette and include the following files:
ANSI.SYS (whose version corresponds to the Operating System used).
MSCDEX.EXE (whose version corresponds to the OS used).
ATAPI_CD.SYS
UPPIO.EXE
DVD115.HEX
3. Make sure that the DOS driver ATAP_CD.SYS and the ANSI driver
ANSI.SYS is loaded via CONFIG.SYS.
ex. DEVICE=A:\ANSI.SYS
DEVICE=A:\ATAPI_CD.SYS /x /D:MSCD001
Note: x is the location of your DVD-ROM drive from step 1
4. In AUTOEXEC.BAT, make sure that MSCDEX is called.
ex. A:\MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD001
5. Boot the computer using this diskette. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
RE-PROGRAM THE DRIVE FROM A DOS WINDOW.
6. After the computer completes the boot sequence, issue the
following command at the DOS prompt (A:\>):
UPPIO /x DVD115.HEX
Note: x is the location of your DVD-ROM drive from step 1
7. DO NOT ABORT THE PROGRAM OR POWER CYCLE THE SYSTEM UNTIL THE
PROGRAM SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES.
The screen should display "now code updating..." The command
prompt will appear when the firmware update is complete.
8. Remove the diskette and reboot your computer

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
