12/2/98: Updating the DVR-S101 System Controller Firmware Files: Crosswriter.exe Download program v1.1 Dvr-s101.107 Firmware binaries. Requirements: 1. DVR-S101 must be at revision 1.06 2. Microsoft's Win95 or WinNT operating system 3. Scsi Controller 4. Aspi Manager 5. Download program 6. Firmware Binaries Instructions: 1. Execute Crosswriter by Double click on it 2. On the Menu bar goto Options | Update Firmware 3. Hit "Continue" 4. Goto the section "UPDATE FIRMWARE" 5. Hit "Browse" button and locate the file "Dvr-s101.107" 6. Hit "Update" button. 7. Hit "OK" button. Firmware Updating should begin. 8. The program will eventually ask you to turn OFF the DVR-S101 writer. Turn OFF the writer and Hit OK button 9. The program will then ask you to turn ON the DVR-S101 writer. Turn ON the writer and Hit OK button 10. Your DVR-S101 has been upgraded. Caution: The DVR-S101 must be at firmware 1.06. Do NOT use this upgrade process for DVR-S101 that has firmware 1.05 or below Note: How to Check DVR-S101 Firmware: Windows 95: 1. Goto My Computer | Control Panel | System 2. Select Device Manager 3. Goto CDROM. The DVR-S101 should be one of the Cdroms 4. Select the DVR-S101 and Hit Properties 5. Select Settings 6. Record the Firmware Revision Windows NT 4.0 1. Goto My Computer | Control Panel | Scsi Adapters 2. Locate the DVR-S101 3. Hit Properties 4. Select Settings 5. Record the Firmware Revision Comment: Pioneer New Media Technologies recommends using the following resources to upgrade your DVR-S101: 1. Micrsoft's Windows 95 OSR2 or Windows NT 4.0 service pack 3 2. Adaptec's 2940U Scsi Controller 3. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
