ISMC9000.EXE is setup utility originally designed for ISA and FEAST boards.

Note: ISMC9000 will not run with 91C110 since that chip does not have an
        serial EEPROM interface.

COMMAND LINE PARAMETERS
-----------------------

USER VERSION: ISMC9000.EXE - Should be shipped with adapter to allow
users and installers jumperless board setup. Will not allow changes to
manufacturer choices for RAM SIZE , RAM SPEED and Ethernet Address.

/P:<PORT> Looks for the SMC9000 adapter at <PORT> I/O address only.
/M Runs this utility forcing a monochrome display

For producction purposes I9000PRO.EXE is a version of this utility
which has an additional setup option for Node Address programming.
Contact SMC Components Division if you need to get this program.

AUTOMATIC ADAPTER DETECTION
---------------------------

When this utility is run without any command line switches, it will search for
the SMC9000 board scanning all addresses supported by the SMC9000 from I/O 100h
to 0ffffh. In the event that there is a conflict with other devices and the
utility is not able to find the adapter, please try the following:

- If you know where the board is, you can use the /P:<PORT> option
- Otherwise, disable the EEPROM (DIP SWITCH 0 ON), reset or power up the machine
switch DIP SWITCH 0 off again. The board will be then at I/O address 300H.
Modify the actual configuration to place the adapter in a safe I/O address.

UPDATE FILES OPTIONS
--------------------

This utility can create or modify the NET.CFG for Novell ODI and PROTOCOL.INI
for NDIS configuration files. In case there isn't an entry for the SMC9000
board it will be created; if there is one or more entries for the SMC9000, the
first one will be modified to reflect the information of the Actual
Configuration of the adapter (the one selected by the DIP switches).

PCMCIA ADAPTERS
---------------

PCMCIA adapters do not necesary need to have an EEPROM in their
designs as this information can be stored in the CIS. In the event
that a PCMCIA design still has an EEPROM it can be programmed in
the same way as the ISA boards as long as the card is enabled
previously (using ENABLERS) to running ISMC9000.EXE
