README.txt Driver File Contents (Realtek_PCIe_GbE_Family_Controller_DRIVER.zip)

Instructions to install:

1) Go to device manager (easy method Win10: rightclick your start menu button, select "device manager (5th option from the top), or press start and search for "Device manager" or Control panel > then find it)

2) In the device manager, click the category called "Network adapters"

3) Double-click your Realtek PCIe GbE device listed in there

4) In the window that is now opened (device window), select the "Driver" tab

5) Click the "Update Driver" button (second button from the top)

6) Make sure to click this now: "Browse my computer for driver software" so you can select a folder.

7) Extract all of the files in this ZIP downloaded file somewhere and remember where. (copy from 'folder' to another newly made folder, or use software called 7-Zip or WinZip)

8) Point the driver installer (select folder; "browse my computer" from 2 steps back) to the folder you extracted the .zip driver files to.

You should first try selecting that location in the first dialog titled "Search for drivers in this location". If this does not work (no result driver list) then you should read the bottom of this README.

IMPORTANT: THE FOLDER YOU EXTRACTED TO, MUST HAVE BOTH the "x86" and "x64" SUBFOLDERS AS IN FOLDERS PROVIDED IN DOWNLOADED .ZIP FILE

Right-click my computer > properties ", see how many bits your PC is. If it says, "64-bit operating system" then point the device manager's Driver installer to the "x64" subfolder.
If it says, "32-bit operating system", then point the device manager's Driver installer to the "x86" subfolder.
If you dont understand this, you can read this guide: (site) https://www.lifewire.com/am-i-running-a-32-bit-or-64-bit-version-of-windows-2624475

9) click "Next" and install the driver from that location. It will say the installation or update has been successfully installed. When it does that, restart your PC and enjoy, it's now done!
Note: you can check driver date from the device manager "Driver" tab to confirm you now have the latest driver. You can also google search the driver version number listed there, and try stay checked with new releases that happen
at any given time.

If the step number 8) (selecting driver file location) turns out not to work, you should click on "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer" instead, and then proceed to click on "Have Disk".. and then point it
to the location you extracted the driver files to. If then nothing appears, you should un-tick the "show only compatible hardware" option. If also this does not work, and your network stops working (properly),
then you should later click "Rollback driver" in the main device properties page (straight from Device manager > network adapters > Realtek PCIe GbE and then the "Driver" tab again) and restart PC.
