1. Setup
========

Do the following steps to install the driver:

a. Open the Control Panel/Network. Select "Adapters" tab.
b. Click "Add..." button.
c. When the list of adapters appears, choose "Have Disk".
d. Insert the Drivers diskette and enter "A:\WINNT4".
e. A dialog box will appear to configure the driver for your system.

   Specify the following items:

   - I/O port base address (default value is 0x300)
   - Interrupt level (IRQ; default value is 5)
   - Memory base address (default value is 0xD0000)
   - The COM port to associate with the Modem device
     (the default setting is COM4).

   "Use direct enabler" checkbox selects the driver's built-in enabler.
    If your PCMCIA controller is supported by Windows NT, this checkbox should
    be left unchecked. You can click on Control Panel/PC Card icon to check
    out that your PCMCIA controller is supported and properly detected
    by the system.

   It is recommended to specify Modem disabled on this step, and
   to configure the COM port after the Ethernet part is working.

   If "Bus type and Number" dialog will show up, choose bus type "PCMCIA",
   if this selection is available. Otherwise, select "ISA". Do not select
   other bus types.

f. Windows will prompt you to reboot. Click "Yes".
   Or, if you wish to revise your network configuration, click "No" and
   reboot afterwards. Verify that Windows starts properly and you can
   access your network.

g. Choose COM port to be used with the Modem. Open the Control Panel/Ports
   and add new COM port. Assign the Base I/O Address and the IRQ for this
   COM port. The Base I/O Address can be one of the following,
   whichever is available on your system:
     - 0x3F8 (default for COM1)
     - 0x2F8 (default for COM2)
     - 0x3E8 (default for COM3)
     - 0x2E8 (default for COM4)

   IRQ for the COM port can be either assigned to any unused value,
   or shared with any other COM port (Serialnnnn device). Do NOT share the
   IRQ with the serial port, occupied by serial mouse.
   "FIFO Enabled" box should be checked normally.

   Open the Control Panel/Network and set the COM Port number.

h. Reboot the computer.

i. Now you can use your modem with RAS or Terminal. However, if you plan to
   use HyperTerminal, PhoneDialer or any other "Windows 95 - alike"
   application, you have to set up the Unimodem support. Refer to
   chapter 2 of this document.

   Installation is now complete.

NOTES:
   Windows NT Diagnostics program can help you to find which resources are
   already in use in your system. It is located in Administrative Tools
   (Common) menu.

IMPORTANT:
   PCMCIA cards should always be inserted BEFORE you start the Windows NT and
   should NOT be removed while the Windows NT is running. See the Windows NT
   documentation related to PCMCIA support for more details.

2. Adding support for Unimodem
==============================

a. Open Control Panel... Modems.
b. Choose Add ... The Add Modem wizard would open.
c. Check "Don't detect my modem...", Next.
d. Select "Have disk".
e. Enter location of the driver files: A:\WINNT4
f. Highlight the COM port of the Modem.
   Choose "Install on selected COM port".

   If it is the first modem you add, the Dialing Properties dialog
   will appear. Please refer to NT4 documentation for more details on
   Unimodem and Telephony setup.

3. Troubleshooting
==================

If the PC336 ENET PCMCIA Adapter does not work properly:

 - Use the "Event Viewer" application to find the earliest message
   that identifies the problem.
 - Make sure that the adapter is properly configured. A resource
   conflict is the most likely reason for the trouble.

To view or change the adapter configuration do the following:
 - Open the Control Panel/Network;
 - Select the "PC336 ENET PCMCIA adapter" from the Installed Adapter
   Cards list;
 - Click "Properties" button.

 Check if the assigned Interrupt, I/O base address or Memory address
 do not conflict with other devices and are valid for your computer.

 Note that Windows NT Diagnostics (WINMSD.EXE) can only show which
 resources are already in use. However, it can not check whether an
 unused resource is really available on your machine.

 - Choose "Modem disabled" in the adapter setup dialog;
   If the network adapter with the modem disabled is operational,
   then try other IRQ or I/O port for the modem.

 - Try using the built-in enabler instead of Windows NT enabler.

 - If the adapter does not work properly with other PCMCIA cards,
   then open the adapter configuration dialog and select the radio button
   corresponding to the socket where the PC336 ENET PCMCIA adapter is
   inserted. This prevents the adapter from possible interference with other
   PCMCIA cards. (This option will work in the built-in enabler mode only).
