NetWare CLIENT32 FOR WIN95 using NetWare 32-bit ODI Server LAN Driver

For RL100ATX PCI Series adapters.

The following are LAN adapters supported:-

Before you start
================
You should have the following items ready before you start;

     1. NetWare Client32 for Windows 95 installation diskette or CD-ROM"

     2. Latest driver distribution diskette for RL100ATX Adapter
        or
        Compex Client32 Support Diskette. Downloadable from Compex WEB
        or FTP site or the BBS.

   Note:- Latest update file for newer LAN adapters are available on the
          WEB, FTP, and BBS.

  
Installation Steps 
==================
*This installation steps presume that you HAVE NOT INSTALLED a driver for
 the Compex adapter in Windows 95.
 Goto Step 2.

* If you already have installed a NDIS3 driver for the Compex adapter in Win95,
  remove it. Follow the Step 1 below.

Step 1: From Control Panel | click on Network | select the RL100ATX adapter
        and click on the Remove button. Click OK.
        Answer NO when prompted to restart Windows.
        
        Open a DOS box, at the DOS prompt, delete the file,
         C:\WINDOWS\INF\RL100A.INF
       
           e.g. C:\WINDOWS\INF> DEL RL100A.INF 
        Close the DOS box and restart Windows.

Step 2: If you have not install the Compex adaprter, power OFF machine and
        install the PCI LAN adapter in a free PCI slot now.
        Please refer to your PC manual for more details on installing and
        setting up the PCI LAN adapter.

Step 3: Power up your PC and startup Windows 95.

Step 4: [New Hardware Found] Box appears,
   Select "Do not install a driver (Windows will not prompt you again)"
   Click [Ok].

Step 5: Run SETUP.EXE from "Client32 for Windows 95" Disk 1.

Step 6: [NetWare Client32 License Agreement] Box appears,
   Click [Yes].

Step 7: [NetWare Client32 Installation] Box appears,
        Mark the option box [Upgrade NDIS driver to ODI automatically,
        if available] & Click [Start].

Step 8: Setup Program starts to copy files.

Step 9: [Select Device] Box appears,
   Click [Have Disk].

Step 10: [Install From Disk] Box appears,
         In "Copy manufacturer's files from" field,
         Insert the driver distribution disk or support diskette and
         enter A:\NW4.x or from support  disk, A:\RL100A

Step 11: [Select Device] Box appears with the following options,

         "Compex RL100ATX 10/100Base-TX PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter"

         and Click [Ok].
   
Step 12: If you have not provide any "computer" and "workgroup" name
         a [Network] Box will appear, Click [Ok] to enter them.

Step 13: [Recommended Network Client32 Properties] Box appears,
         Click [Yes] to enter the "Client32's properties page".
         
Step 14: [Novell Network Client32 Properties" Box appears,
         In "Client32" Page, enter your "Name Context" and "First Network Drive".
         Click [Ok] when done.

Step 15: Setup program starts to copy files from "Client32 for Windows 95
         Diskette" and "Windows 95 CD-ROM". Provide the correct path to these
         files when prompted.

Step 16: [Insert Disk] Box appears, asking for the adapter's driver diskette.
         Click [Ok].

Step 17: [Copying Files...] Box appears,
         In the "Copy files from field enter the path to the
         adapter's .LAN file and Click [Ok].
                e.g. A:\NW4.X or from support disk, A:\RL100A

Step 18: [NetWare Client32 Installation] Box appears,
         Click [Reboot] to restart Windows 95.

Step 19: Login to NetWare Server
         After Windows restart, you should see a Novell's Client32 Logo
         display. Then a [Novell NetWare Login] Box will appear.

         Enter your user login name and password. Then Click [OK].

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
