1.0  WHAT IS WPCONFIG?

WPCONFIG is a Windows based utility program designed for the
network administrator to remotely configure and manage Kingston's
Print Server products.  WPCONFIG can be used on Microsoft's
Windows 3.1, Windows for Workgroups, Windows 95, and Windows NT
platforms.  WPCONFIG uses IPX/SPX protocol to communicate with 
the active Print Server devices.

2.0  BEFORE INSTALLING WPCONFIG

Before you install WPCONFIG program on your workstation, you must
make sure that the following software has been loaded:

     2.1  ON WINDOWS NT WORKSTATIONS

     Click on control panel and then click on network icon to
     bring up your network setup menu.  Check to see if the
     following software has been installed on your workstation:

     1) NetWare Gateway Service (for NT version 3.5.1)
        Client Service for NetWare (for NT version 3.5)
     2) NWLINK IPX/SPX Compatible Transport

     If not, then you need to select "Add software" function to
     install these two software.  After you install the software,
     you need to restart the workstation.  If you are prompted
     with "Select Preferred server for NetWare" message, simply
     click "Cancel" if you do not have a Novell server on your
     network.  You do not need to log in to a Novell file server
     to use the WPCONFIG program.

     2.2  ON WINDOWS 95 WORKSTATIONS

     Click on control panel and then click on network icon to
     bring up your network setup menu.  Make sure that the 
     "Client for NetWare Network" & "IPX/SPX Compatible Transport"
     are both installed.  If not, then you need to click on Add 
     button to install these software.  You do not need to setup 
     a Novell's preferred server or log in to an existing Novell
     file server to use the WPCONFIG program.

     2.3  ON WINDOWS 3.1 OR WINDOWS FOR WORKGROUPS WORKSTATIONS 

     Make sure that the Novell workstation drivers are properly
     loaded on your workstation.  You do not have to log in to a
     Novell file server to use WPCONFIG program.

3.0  INSTALLING WPCONFIG

     3.1  To install WPCONFIG on your Windows 3.1, Windows for
          Workgroups, or Windows NT workstation:

     1) Insert "QStart CD-ROM" into your CD-ROM drive.
     2) Make sure Windows is already running.  If not, type WIN
        at the DOS prompt.
     3) Choose Run from the File menu in the Program Manager.  
        The Run dialog box appears.
     4) Type letter:\Utility\Wpconfig\setup depending on which
        letter you used for your CD-ROM.Click OK to start the 
        setup.
     5) Follow the instructions on your screen.

     3.2  To install WPCONFIG on your Windows 95 workstation:

     1) Insert "QStart CD-ROM" into your CD-ROM drive.
     2) Click Start, point to Run, then click.
     3) Type the drive letter containing the "QStart CD-ROM", 
        followed by :\setup. For example F:\setup.  Click OK 
        to start the installation.
     4) Follow the instructions on your screen.

4.0  TECHNICAL SUPPORT INFORMATION

Accessing the Kingston BBS for the Latest Information

The Kingston BBS can be accessed by using a modem and a
communications program to call the BBS at 714-435-2636.
Communications settings are no parity, 8 data bits, and 1 stop bit
(xxxxx-N-8-1, where xxxxx is your modem's maximum speed).

When you have logged on to the BBS, check the "Public" section
for updates or other new Ethernet PC Card information.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
