uploaders notes.txt Driver File Contents (ALS300p.zip)

This driver is for the PCI multifunction device fitted to some laptops. (These laptops were produced in Taiwan and sold worldwide under various local brand names.) i.e. Avance ALS 300p sound card, Smart Link Ltd.HAMR56xx voice modem, plus various midi drivers and game port drivers for the multifunction device.

This is basically the win2000 driver with a different Joy300.vxd file to make it work on Windows XP.

If you have just upgraded your to 2 – 3 year old laptop to XP and windows tells you that it cannot find the driver for a ALS 300 sound card AND the modem has not been found either… then this might be your answer.

Update the driver using from a specific location option (i.e. where you unzipped the files to). You will be given a choice if 3 ‘inf’ files, select Snd300p.inf, this will load the sound card drivers and when finished windows will ‘find’ the new hardware and load the modem, midi drivers automatically.

I spent 5 days searching the net before putting this together…. I hope it helps, no guarantees – but it works on my laptop.
