1. Introduction

EpsonNet Print Ver. 2.4 supports Windows XP/Me/98/95 OSR2/2000/NT 4.0/Server 2003/Vista/Server 2008/7/Server 2008R2. Unless a specific version of Windows is mentioned, the information contained in this file applies to all versions of Windows.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

2. Limitations

2-1. Printing with Restricted User Privileges (Windows XP/2000/NT 4.0/Server 2003/Vista/Server 2008/7/Server 2008R2 only)

Printing can proceed normally with the Restricted user privileges. However, the printer status does not appear in the Printers window and the print queue window. To see the status in the print queue window, you must have the "Manage Printers" permission for the print queue.

2-2. Reinstallation of EpsonNet Print (Windows Me/98/95 OSR2 only)

After reinstallation of EpsonNet Print, an invalid port message appears when a print job is sent. To solve this problem, restart the system.

2-3. Standard LPR Printing

For some printer drivers, printing with the Standard LPR protocol does not work. In this case, we recommend that you use other protocols for these printer drivers.

  Laser Printers:
 	AL-C8500, AL-C2000, EPL-5800

  Ink Jet Printers:
Stylus Pro 9500, Stylus Pro 7500, Stylus Pro 5500

  Dot Matrix Printers:
	LQ-570e, LQ-580, LX-300+, LQ-680, LQ-680Pro

2-4. High-Speed Printing Protocol

The EPL-N4000 and EPL-N2700 printers do not support the High-Speed printing protocol. In this case, we recommend that you use other protocols for these printers.

2-5. Network Interface Card (Model Number: C82362*)

If the software version is earlier than Ver. 1.50, only the Standard LPR protocol is available. The software version is described in <General Information> of the status sheet.

2-6. Printing (Windows 95 only)

Printing may become slow if the spooler setting is set as follows:
 1) Printing is done directly to the printer.
 2) The Spool Data format is EMF.

2-7. Enhanced LPR Printing and High-Speed Printing Protocols (Windows Me/98/95 OSR2 only)

For the Impact Dot Matrix printers, if the paper feed type selected is manual feed, the Impact Dot Matrix printer driver displays the "Please insert paper" dialog box for each sheet of paper. If you do not click OK, in a few minutes the error printing dialog box appears, and printing stops.

 (Solution 1)
The standard LPR printing protocol must be used.

 (Solution 2)
Choose the other paper feed types.

2-8. Port Name (Windows Me/98/95 OSR2 only)

In order to print, the port name must be 2 letters or more. This is a restriction of the Print Spooler.

2-9. HostName (DNS)

HostName (DNS) cannot be selected as the Port Type setting when the FQDN is over 200 characters (200 bytes) long. Register the FQDN within 200 characters or select a different port type.

2-10. Search for network printer
The following models are not displayed on the printer list screen even if connected on the network. Please select "Manual Setting" and set the port.

  Laser Printers:
    EPL-N4000, EPL-N2700

---------------------------------------------------------------------

3. Troubleshooting

If you experience problems, check the following troubleshooting tips to find a solution.

3-1. Administrator privileges are required to install the product on Windows NT 4.0/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/Server 2008/7/Server 2008R2.

3-2. When the host computer is on a Class B network (128.0.0.0~191.255.255.255) and the printer is on a Class C network (192.0.0.0~233.255.255.255), the "For which printer do you want to add a port?" screen of the EpsonNet Print Add Port wizard may not display the printer.

 (Solution)
Enter the printer address directly on the Add EpsonNet Print Port screen.

3-3. (Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003 only) When EpsonNet Direct Print 2 is currently installed on your system, the Print Spooler service and its dependent services must be restarted. Before proceeding, complete all print jobs.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

4. Troubleshooting when EPSON Status Monitor 3 fails

When EpsonNet Print is used with some printers, EPSON Status Monitor 3 may fail to communicate with the printers. As a result, a communication error may appear.

4-1. The EPSON Status Monitor 3 may display a communication error for the following printers.
  Laser Printers:
  	EPL-C8200, EPL-5700L/I, EPL-5800L, EPL-N2050, EPL-N2050+, EPL-N1210, EPL-5800,
	EPL-N4000+, EPL-N2750, AL-C8500, AL-C2000, EPL-N2120, EPL-5900, EPL-1220,
	EPL-5900L, AL-C1000, AL-C4000, AL-C7000, AL-C8600, EPL-6100, AL-C1900, AL-C900,
	EPL-6100L, EPL-N2500

  Ink Jet Printers:
Stylus COLOR 980, Stylus Pro 9600, Stylus Pro 7600, Stylus Pro 10600UC,
Stylus Pro 10600DYE, Stylus Pro 10600CF, Stylus Photo 950, Stylus Photo 2100,
	Stylus Photo 2200, Stylus C82

  Dot Matrix Printers:
	DLQ-3500, LX-1170, LQ-300+, LQ-1150, LX-300+, LQ-570e, LQ-580, LQ-630,
	LQ-680/680Pro, FX-880+, FX-1180+, FX-890, FX-2190

  Others:
	Stylus CX3100, Stylus CX3200, Stylus CX5100, Stylus CX5200

To remove the error, create the EpsonNet Print Port using the following solutions.

    (Solution 1)
    1) Enter the IP address of the printer directly on the Address Input screen of the EpsonNet Print Port Wizard, and then click Next.
    2) Click Finish.

    (Solution 2)
    1) Select the printer from the Printer List on the "For which printer do you want to add a port?" screen, and then click Next.
    2) Select IP Address(Manual) from Port Type.
    3) Click Finish.

4-2. For printers not listed above, if an EPSON Status Monitor 3 communication error occurs, we recommend that you download the latest version of EPSON Status Monitor 3 from our Web site and then install it.
