 INTRODUCTION 
 ============
The installation for the NDIS driver for Windows 95 is menu driven
through the Windows 95 interface. The directory structure provided on the
driver diskette has been setup for automatic OEM installation.

** IMPORTANT Notes:
   ===============

1) It is recommended for Windows 95 Release 2 or higher and Windows NT 4.0 to
   install adapter driver from root directory, A:\ of this release disk.
   See installation details in section,
      "Installing using NDIS4 driver to Windows 95 Release 2 or OSR2"

2) For earlier Windows 95 releases use NDIS3 specifications driver in A:\NDIS3
   directory to install.
   See installation details in section,
      "Installing using NDIS3 driver to Windows 95 Release 1"


 INSTALLATION GUIDE 
 ==================

 Installing using NDIS4 driver to Windows 95 Release 2 or OSR2
 =============================================================

 1. Find an empty slot in the computer and plug in the network adapter.

 2. Start up the computer and boot up Windows 95.

 3. Windows 95 automatically detect the RE100ATX adapter and display.
               "PCI Ethernet adapter found"
    Insert the Compex driver disk in floppy drive A and press Enter.

 4. "Compex RE100ATX 10_100 PCI Fast Ethernet(NDIS4)"
     will appear in the network adapter box.
     Press Enter to accept this adapter.

 5. Windows 95 to complete copying of all setup files required by Windows 95
    from the CR-ROM and the driver disk in drive A.

 6. After copying the required files, Windows 95 will prompt for a restart.
    Choose to restart the computer for the driver to take effect.

 7. When the PC reboots, Compex RE100ATX 10_100 PCI Fast Ethernet
    adapter is now ready to service.

 Installing using NDIS3 driver to Windows 95 Release 1
 =====================================================

 1. Find an empty slot in the computer and plug in the network adapter.

 2. Start up the computer and boot up Windows 95.

 3. Windows 95 automatically detect the RE100ATX adapter and display.
               "PCI Ethernet adapter found"
    Insert the Compex driver disk in floppy drive A and press Enter.

 4. Enter A:\NDIS3

 6. "Compex RE100ATX 10\100 PCI Fast Ethernet(NDIS3)"
     will appear in the network adapter box.
     Press Enter to accept this adapter.

 7. Windows 95 to complete copying of all setup files required by Windows 95
    from the CR-ROM and the driver disk in drive A.

 8. After copying the required files, Windows 95 will prompt for a restart.
    Choose to restart the computer for the driver to take effect.

 9. When the PC reboots, Compex RE100ATX 10\100 PCI Fast Ethernet
    adapter is now ready to service.

Uninstall RE100ATX Windows 95 driver
===================================
After the first successfully installation for RE100ATX PCI adapter, if for any
reason you removed the network adapter entry in Network applet in Control Panel,
and do a reinstallation of the adapter, you do not need to insert the driver
disk again. Windows will be automatically detected the adapter and install
the driver after the first installation.
For this reason if there is a update driver, you have to uninstall the adapter
driver from Windows first before new driver can be installed.
To uninstall the adapter driver files do the following,

  A) First run UNRE95.bat to remove the driver.
      i) From Windows goto DOS prompt and run UNRE95.BAT from the disk
          \WIN95 directory.
               e.g.,
                     A:\WIN95\UNRE95

     ii) To proceed to remove the drivers, press any key to continue.
         If you changed you mind, press CTRL-C to abort.


  B) Then goto Control Panel | Network applet| to remove the adapter from
     the network list.
  C) Answer YES to restart Windows.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
