Dell Laser Printer W5300 Firmware Update


The following files are found in this release:

· This instruction sheet in .txt formats

· 55_10_87.fly  – update package for the printer network code. 
 

To upgrade the W5300 printer network firmware:

1. Make sure the printer is in the Ready state, i.e. the “Ready” is displayed on the printer LCD.

2. Go to the Printer’s Embedded Web Server by opening a web browser and entering the IP address of the printer into the address field, then click “GO”

3. Once the embedded web page has displayed, click the “Printer Settings” link on the left frame of the web page. The Printer Settings Page will be displayed.

4. Under the “Other Features” section on the right side of the page, click the “Update Print Server Firmware” link.

5. On the Update Print Server Firmware page, click the “Browse” button to open the “Browse for File” window. Browse to the location where the files were saved (i.e.; C:\Dell\Drivers\R103128) and select the file 55_10_87.fly, then click the “Open” button.

6. On the Update Print Server Firmware page, verify the “File Name:” entry contains the file 55_10_87.fly, then click the “Flash” button. The “Status” changes from “Idle” to “xx% Sent”. 

7. Once 100% of the file has been sent to the printer, the firmware in the printer will be updated.  DO NOT POWER OFF THE PRINTER WHILE THIS IS OCCURING.

8. The printer will automatically perform a power on reset when the firmware has successfully updated. This normally takes about 60 seconds.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
