NOTES
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
- Supported operating systems:
Windows Vista SP1 or later recommended (x86/x64)
Windows Server 2008 (x86/x64)
Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64)
Windows 7 (x86/x64)
INSTALLATION
Note: The procedure below is for Windows 7. This procedure could vary depending on your operating system.
- Procedure:
1) Launch the Add Printer Wizard:
Start > Control Panel > "View devices and printers" > Add Printer
2) Select "Add a Local printer" and then select the port.
3) Click "Have Disk" and browse to your XPS driver installer package.
4) A list of printers will be displayed. Select your printer from the list, and then click "Next."
5) Follow the on-screen instructions of the Add Printer wizard.
6) Restart your PC.
NOTES
* The XPS driver will only work with applications that support XPS printing.
* Conflicts in the Device Settings tab will be marked with a yellow "!" icon. These must be modified before changes to the Device Settings can be saved.
Note: In rare cases, such conflicts might be created by automatic configuration of printer accessories. However, these can immediately be resolved by pressing the Apply button.
* Application collate functions might override the driver's collate settings.
* Custom paper sizes can be added to the driver's Paper Size setting using Windows Print Server settings. The procedure is as follows.
1) Start > Control Panel > View devices and printers > Server Properties
2) In the Forms tab, click "Create a new form."
3) Any form saved here will appear in the driver's Paper Size selection list.
* "Paper available" in the General tab will always be Letter or A4 regardless of the paper in the printer or the settings of the driver.
* Lines might be omitted from jobs if they are less than 1 pixel in width.
* Under a specific set of conditions, "Additional Drivers" cannot be added to a shared printer. This only happens if either of the client or server is x64 and the other is x86.
* Some Black and White documents might be printed in full color (CMYK). To ensure that the job prints using pure Black (K), please change the Color Printing Mode setting to "Monochrome".
* Some of the media types shown in the driver do not match those that can be configured for the printer's trays.
If the printer's tray contains "Thick 2" or Special 2" paper, use the media type "Auto Select" from the driver.
If the printer's tray contains "Thick 1" or Special 1", use the media type "Thick" or "Special" from the driver.
* The feed directions of custom paper sizes are not automatically updated by bidirectional communication with the printer. Please configure custom paper sizes manually in the "Device Settings" tab.
*If jobs with any of the following settings are submitted to a printer that doesn't support them, the job will be cancelled.
- Resolution: 1200dpi
- Printing Mode: Quality Preference, High Quality
- Paper Size: Any size unsupported by the printer
- Job Type: Sample Print, Locked Print, Hold Print, Stored Print
*If jobs with any of the following settings are submitted to a printer that doesn't support them, the setting will be cancelled.
- Print on Both Sides
- Staple
- Punch
- Job Type: Send to Document Server
*If a job specifies a non-existent "Paper Source", the printer will use "Automatically Select" to select a tray.
*If a job specifies an unsupported media Type, the printer will use "Plain/Recycled" paper for the job.
*Adobe Reader might add an extra page of padding to the end of odd-paged duplex documents. This will be counted as a BW page.
When application's copies is 1 and XPS driver's copies is 2 or more, the extra page is not added.
