4. Device mapping order
========================

  The device mapping order in system is same as BIOS setting utility. The disk
  marked as "BOOT" will always be mapped as first SCSI disk. Please keep it in
  mind when installing Windows 2008/7/8/8.1/2012/10, otherwise OS may be installed to
  wrong location.


5. Driver Installation Guide
============================

    INSTALLING THR DRIVER FOR A FRESH WINDOWS 2008 INSTALLATION
    -----------------------------------------------------------
	1. Boot from the Windows 2008 DVD.
	2. When the screen "where do you want to install Windows" appears, click
	   "Load driver" and browse to the driver's location. The driver can be
	   installed from a floppy, USB flash disk, or CD/DVD.
	3. Select the RocketRAID controller driver and click "Next".
	4. The driver is now installed - you can now continue the Windows setup
	   procedure.

    INSTALLING THE DRIVER FOR AN EXISTING WINDOWS 2008 SYSTEM
    ---------------------------------------------------------
	1. Install the adapter and power on the system. After booting the system,
	   Windows should display a new hardware message, stating WIndows needs
	   to install driver software your PCI device".
	2. Select "Locate and install driver software (recommended)."
	3. Select "Don't Search Online."
	4. Select "I don't have the disc, show me other options."
	5. Select "Browse my computer for driver software.", and browse to the
	   location of the driver.
	6. Windows should locate and install the driver. Once installed, press
	   "Close" to exit the Wizard. The adapter is now ready for use.

    INSTALLING THE DRIVER FOR A FRESH WINDOWS 7/8/8.1/2012/10 INSTALLATION
    -----------------------------------------------------------
	1. Boot from the Windows 7/8/2012/10 DVD.
	2. When the screen "where do you want to install Windows" appears, click
	   "Load driver" and browse to the driver's location. The driver can be
	   installed from a floppy, USB flash disk, or CD/DVD.
	3. Select the RocketRAID controller driver and click "Next".
	4. The driver is now installed - you can now continue the Windows setup
	   procedure.
     
    INSTALLING THE DRIVER FOR AN EXISTING WINDOWS 7/8/8.1/2012/10 SYSTEM
    ---------------------------------------------------------
	1. Install the adapter and power on the system. After booting the system.
	2. Open the Device Manager, select the RAID controller, update driver.
	3. Select "Locate and install driver software (recommended)."
	4. Select "Don't Search Online."
	5. Select "I don't have the disc, show me other options."
	6. Select "Browse my computer for driver software.", and browse to the
	   location of the driver.
	7. Windows should locate and install the driver. Once installed, press
	   "Close" to exit the Wizard. The adapter is now ready for use.


6. Known Problems
==================

  * Install OS to devices attached to RocketRAID controller

    Before installing OS to devices attached to RocketRAID controller, you
    must remove the drives connected to other controllers from your system 
    temporarily. After OS installation complete, you can put them back.

  * Moving disks to other controllers

    When you want to use disks previously attached to RocketRAID controller
    on other controllers, please first delete any array information on the 
    disks. Otherwise your data may be lost when you want to put it back later.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
