YOU, THE END USER, SHALL USE THIS SOFTWARE("THE SOFTWARE") ACCORDING TO THE
TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT.
BY LOADING THE SOFTWARE INTO ANY COMPUTER, YOU ARE AGREEING TO BE BOUND BY
THESE TERMS. IF YOU DO NOT ACCEPT THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT, YOU MAY NOT LOAD
THIS SOFTWARE INTO ANY COMPUTER.


Grant of License
The Software is licensed for use by you for the equipment packaged with the
Software or designated by its supplier ("the equipment"). You are permitted to
use the Software on any computer which permits electronic access to the
equipment. You are not permitted to rent or lease the Software or to transfer
your rights under this license to a third party.


Acceptance
You shall be deemed to have accepted the terms of this Agreement by loading the
Software into any computer.


Duration
This license is effective until terminated. The license will terminate where
you fail to comply with the terms of this Agreement. Upon termination, you
agree to destroy all copies of the Software and its documentation.


Ownership of Software
You own, if any, only the magnetic media on which the Software has been
delivered. It is an express condition of this Agreement that the title and
ownership of the Software shall be retained by its owners.


Copying
The Software and its documentation are the subject of Copyright.
You may not make any copies nor cause others to make copies of the Software
except such copies as are necessary for licensed use and one copy for
operational security. Any such copies are subject to the conditions of this
Agreement.
You may not modify, adapt, merge, translate, reverse engineer, decompile,
disassemble or create derivative works based on the whole or any part of the
Software or its associated documentation.
You may be held legally responsible for any copyright infringement,
unauthorized transfer, reproduction or use of the Software or its
documentation.


Limitation of Warranty
The media, if any, not the Software contained therein, is warranted to the
original purchaser against defects in material and workmanship for a period of
one year from the date of original purchase. Defective media will be replaced
when it is returned to your supplier, postage prepaid, along with a copy of the
purchase receipt.

THESE RIGHTS ARE YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY, WHETHER IN TORT, CONTRACT, OR
OTHERWISE. IN NO EVENT SHALL SUPPLIER, OWNER OF THE SOFTWARE OR ITS LICENSORS
BE LIABLE FOR DAMAGES (INCLUDING ANY FOR LOSS OF INFORMATION, PROFITS, SAVINGS
OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION OR OTHER DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL
OR SPECIAL DAMAGES) ARISING OUT OF THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE THEREOF, OR THE
INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE.


Exporting Law
You acknowledge that the export of the Software is governed by the export
control laws of the United States and other countries. You agree to comply with
all such export control laws.


Governing Law and Jurisdiction
If any provision or portion of this Agreement shall be found to be illegal,
invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force
and effect. This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of California, USA and
is subject to the jurisdiction of the Federal District courts for the Central
District of California by a judge and not a jury.

Introduction

This readme file contains information about using Postscript printer driver
for Windows 2000/XP/Server2003/Vista/Server2008 (hereafter called Windows
XP/Vista). Please make sure to read this before installing Postscript
printer driver.

[1]How to install Postscript printer driver

    (1) Installation steps for Windows XP/Vista driver
     If you are installing this product at the first time, please follow these
     steps;

     * Make sure to close all applications before installing.

        -1 Start Windows XP/Vista and log on as Administrators or Power Users.

        -2 When using a driver downloaded from the Internet:
           After downloading the driver from the Internet, extract the file(s)
           to a folder of your choice.

        -3  Run Setup.exe
          A) To install the downloaded driver, open the extracted folder
             and double-click the Setup.exe.

          B) To install from the CD, insert the CD-ROM into the CD ROM drive,
             open the folder "<CD Drive>:\DRIVERS\PS3\(OS)\(Language)\DISK1"
             and double-click the Setup.exe.

        -4 Follow the Wizard guidance.

        -5 Restart your computer.

       After completing above operation, you can use Postscript printer
       driver for Windows XP/Vista.


    (2) Uninstalling Postscript printer driver (Windows XP/Vista)

     * Make sure to close all applications before uninstalling.

        -1 Open [Printers] or [Printers and Faxes] folder in [Settings] or
           [Control Panel] from [Start] menu.
        -2 Select the printer you want to uninstall.
        -3 Press [Delete] key
        -4 Select "Driver" tab in server property from file menu in printer
           folder.
        -5 Select the driver you want to uninstall.
        -6 Press [Delete] key
           If you are using Windows Vista, you are asked to choose "Remove
           driver only" or "Remove driver and driver package".  Please choose
           the latter.

         (1)Open "Control Panel" -> "Printers".
         (2)Select the printer icon.
         (3)(2000/XP) Click right button -> "Delete".
            (Vista)   Click right button -> "Run as administrator" 
                      -> "Delete".

         (4)(2000/XP) Select "File" -> "Server Properties".
            (Vista)   Click right button -> "Run as administrator" 
                      -> "Server Properties".
         (5)Select "Drivers" tab.
         (6)Select the driver from "Installed printer drivers" and press the
            Remove button.
         (7)(Vista only) Select "Remove driver and driver package.".
         (8)Restart your computer.

    (3) Installation steps (Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5)
        -1 To install the downloaded driver,
           open the downloaded .dmg file and double-click the install package.
        -2 To install the driver from the CD,
           open the driver folder and double-click the install package.
        -3 Add the printer using the Printer Setup Utility.
           If the printer is connected with USB cable, you can find the printer
	   in the Default Browser list.

	   If the printer is connected with network, 
	   choose "IP Printer"(10.4) or "IP" (10.5), 
	   select "Line Printer Daemon" protocol, and 
	   enter the printer's IP address.

    (4) Notes

       During the printer driver installation, Windows XP/Vista may alert
       that Windows XP/Vista can't verify the publisher of this driver.
       However, the printer driver functionality is not affected.  Please
       continue the installation.

[2] Limitation/Notes in using Postscript printer driver

    1. Data Format
       (Windows XP/Vista)
       Be sure to select "ASCII" for "Output Protocol" in "Device Settings"
       tab.  If set to "TBCP" or "Binary" to perform above operation, it may
       cause PS error or incorrect setting of numbers of copies.

    2. Separator Page
       (Windows XP/Vista)
       If a Separator Page is selected, some document may not be printed as
       expected.

    3. Some applications (e.g., Adobe Reader) ignores the driver's custom
       paper size settings, and uses the printer's default paper size.

    4. Some applications (e.g Acrobat or Powerpoint) will not print booklet
       to a PostScript printer.

    5. When "Black by K" is selected for "Gray Reproduction", some Grey-only
       pages will still use CMY toner where job uses a CIE color space set
       in such a way that equal amounts of CMY or RGB are not neutral gray.

    6. When "Black Over Print" is selected,  some Grey-only text will not be
       over printed where job uses a CIE color space set in such away that
       equal amounts of CMY or RGB are not neutral gray.

    7. A print job containing EPS data may result in unpredictable behavior
       e.g. no pages output, PS error messages, corrupt or missing pages,
       wrong paper size and type selections, the EPS image not printed, or
       other types of error.

    8. Additional Page Count in Duplex Printing
       An extra page is added to the end of odd-paged duplex jobs.
       The added page might increment the printer's counter.

    9. Page Layout (Booklet) function
       Booklet printing does not operate properly in printing under Acrobat.

    10. Preprinted, Prepunched and Letterhead paper types
        If Preprinted, Prepunched or Letterhead paper types is used to print
        a landscape document, it might be printed with the unexpected
        orientation.

    11. Printing the document with the multiple Simplified Chinese fonts.
        (Windows XP/Vista)
        The document with the multiple Simplified Chinese fonts might not be
        printed as expected.

    12. CMYK used for Black and White Documents
        Black and White documents might be printed in full color (CMYK). 
        To ensure that the job prints using pure Black (K), please change the 
        Color Mode to "Black and White" in Advanced Options dialog.

    13. Help pointer ("?" button)
        (Windows XP/Server2003)
        The help is not displayed if the help pointer is used on an element in
        Printing Preferences. 
        (Windows Vista)
        The help is not displayed if the help pointer is used on an element in
        Printing Preferences or Printer Properties.

        Instead of using the help pointer, please press the "Help" button to
        get information about objects in the driver dialogue. 

    14. Page Layout (N-up) function
        (Windows XP/Vista)
        If "Pages per Sheet" is 2 or more, pages of mixed orientation documents 
        might not be rotated in the way that is expected by the customer.
        To make pages rotate differently, please do the following:
        (1) Open "Printers and Faxes".
        (2) Select a printer and open its Properties.
        (3) Open the "Advanced" tab and click the "Print Processor..." button.
        (4) Select "WinPrint" from the list of print processors.

    15. Novell NDPS
        (Windows XP/Vista)
        The driver cannot be used in an NDPS environment.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
