Overview
========
Included with this document is software to update or backup the
Firmware/EEPROM table and Edid of your Matrox GXM hardware. The
firmware of your GXM hardware controls all the display
functions. The EEPROM table is used by the firmware to configure
the device and the Edid enable the stretch modes.
For a list of specific hardware models supported by this software,
see "Matrox PKG files".
This document assumes you're familiar with the basics of the
operating system you're using. For more information on how to use
your operating system, see its documentation or your system manual.
Backing up your GXM device
===========================
Before updating the Firmware/EEPROM Table and Edid of your Matrox
GXM hardware, we recommend you back up the current content
of your GXM hardware.
Windows 2000/XP or NT 4.0
-------------------------
(1) Run "MtxGXMUtilities", then click "Create a Matrox Device backup file".
The file is saved in the current directory of the application. The
created file has the extension .PKG.
DOS (not under Windows)
-----------------------
(1) Copy the files included with this software to a directory on
your hard disk. For example, you can copy files to the root
directory on your "C:" drive.
(2) At a command prompt or DOS prompt, change to the directory
where you copied the files. For example, type "cd c:\" if you
copied the files to the root folder of your "C:" drive.
(3) Type:
MtxGXMUtilities /b
The file is saved in the current directory of the application. The
created file has the extension .PKG.
Updating your GXM device
=========================
Before updating the Firmware/EEPROM Table and Edid of your Matrox
GXM hardware, we recommend you back up your device
(see "Backing up your GXM"). To update your GXM:
Windows 2000/XP or NT 4.0
-------------------------
(1) Run "MtxGXMUtilities", then click "Update your Matrox Device".
DOS (not under Windows)
-----------------------
(1) Copy the files included with this software to a directory on
your hard disk. For example, you can copy files to the root
director on your "C:" drive.
(2) At a command prompt or DOS prompt, change to the directory
where you copied the files. For example, type "cd c:\" if you
copied the files to the root folder of your "C:" drive.
(3) Type:
MtxGXMUtilities /flash packaename.pkg
In the previous command, replace "packaename.pkg" with the file
name of a BIN file included with this software (for example,
"DEPackage1-1.pkg") or a PKG file you previously created with
"MtxGXMUtilities". For information on available PKG files, see
"Matrox PKG files".
(4) You need to restart your system for the changes to take effect.
Matrox PKG files
================
One or more PKG (*.pkg) files for your Matrox GXM are included
with this software. These PKG files are a copy or backup of the
Firmware/EEPROM Table and Edid of your Matrox GXM. These
files are used or created by "MtxGXMUtilities" (see "Backing up your GXM"
and "Updating your GXM").
The following is a list of available BIN files and the Matrox
hardware models they support:

Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
