1. System Requirements
The following operating environment is required in order to use 
the printer driver. 
    *Intel Pentium 200 MHz 
    *Windows XP (SP1 or later) / Windows 2000 (SP3 or later) /
     Windows Me / Windows 98SE / Windows 98 / Windows 95 (OSR2.5
     or later) / Windows NT4.0 (SP6a or later).
    *128MB RAM (Windows XP), 64MB RAM (Windows 95/98/98SE/Me/
     2000/NT4.0) 
    *IEEE 1284 parallel port (ECP/Nibble-compatible) or USB 
     Revision 1.1 port
    *CD-ROM drive


2. Installing the Printer Driver
This section describes the procedure for installing the printer 
driver. The printer driver can be installed in two ways: by using 
Plug and Play or by using the Add Printer Wizard. 

2.1 Installing the Printer Driver Using Plug and Play
Installation using Plug and Play is not possible on Windows 95/
NT4.0. Refer to the procedure for using the Add Printer Wizard.
For a parallel connection, quit the Add Printer Wizard that 
started up with Plug and Play, and then install the printer 
driver by clicking the Add Printer icon. 

2.1.1 Windows XP
(1) With Windows running, insert the CD-ROM into your computer's 
    CD-ROM drive. 
(2) Turn on the machine. 
(3) When the machine is ready, connect it to the computer with the 
    USB cable. The "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box appears.
(4) Select "Install from a list or specific location [Advanced]", 
    and then click [Next]. 
(5) Select "Include this location in the search: under Search for 
    the best driver in these locations.", and then click [Browse].
(6) Browse to "Driver\(language)\WinXP" on the CD-ROM, and then 
    click [OK]. For example, if you prefer English, browse to: 
    Driver\English\WinXP
(7) Click [Next], and the "Completing the Found New Hardware 
    Wizard" dialog box appears. Click [Finish].(8) The "Found New 
    Hardware Wizard" dialog box appears again. Repeat steps (4) 
    through (7). 

2.1.2 Windows 2000
(1) With Windows running, insert the CD-ROM into your computer's 
    CD-ROM drive. 
(2) Turn on the machine. 
(3) When the machine is ready, connect it to the computer with the 
    USB cable. The "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box appears.
(4) Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device 
    (recommended)" in the "Install Hardware Device Drivers" 
    dialog box, and then click [Next]. The "Locate Driver Files" 
    dialog box appears. 
(5) Select Specify a location, and click [Next]. 
(6) Click [Browse...] on the next dialog box, browse to "Driver\
    (language)\Win2k" on the CD-ROM, and then click [OK]. For 
    example, if you prefer English, browse to: Driver\English\
    Win2k
(7) Click [OK], and follow the instructions that appear on the 
    screen until the "Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard" 
    dialog box appears. Click [Finish]. 
(8) The "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box appears again. 
    Repeat steps (4) through (7). 

2.1.3 Windows Me/98
(1) With Windows running, insert the CD-ROM into your computer's 
    CD-ROM drive. 
(2) Turn on the machine. 
(3) When the machine is ready, connect it to the computer with the 
    USB cable. The "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box appears. 
(4) Click [Next], and then select "Search for the best driver for 
    your device (Recommended)" on the next dialog box. Click 
    [Next] again. 
(5) Select [Specify a location], and then click [Browse...]. 
(6) Browse to "Driver\(language)\Win9x" on the CD-ROM, and then 
    click [OK]. For example, if you prefer English, browse to: 
    Driver\English\Win9x
(7) Click [Next], and then follow the instructions that appear on 
    the screen until you can click [Finish]. 
(8) The "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box appears again. 
    Repeat steps (4) through (7). 
 
2.2 Installing the Printer Driver Using the Add Printer Wizard 
2.2.1 Windows XP
(1) With Windows running, insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive 
    of your computer. 
(2) Click the Windows [Start] button, and then click [Printers 
    and Faxes]. 
(3) Select [Add a printer] from the [Printer Tasks] menu. The Add 
    Printer Wizard starts. 
(4) Follow the instructions that appear on your computer screen. 

=Note=
When instructed to specify the driver, browse to 
"Driver\English\WinXP" (for Windows XP) on the CD-ROM. 

2.2.2 Windows 2000/NT4.0/Me/98/95
(1) With Windows running, insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive 
    of your computer. 
(2) Click the Windows [Start] button, point to [Settings], and 
    then click [Printers]. The "Printers" window appears. 
(3) Double-click the "Add Printer" icon. The Add Printer Wizard 
    starts. 
(4) Follow the instructions that appear on your computer screen. 

=Note=
When instructed to specify the driver, browse to 
"Driver\English\Win2k" (for Windows 2000) or 
"Driver\English\Win9x" (for Windows Me, 98, and 95) or 
"Driver\English\WinNT" (for Windows NT4.0) on the CD-ROM. 


3. Release Notes
3.1 General
* Watermark set in 2-byte fonts may not be indicated in boldface 
  type.
* If making the setting in the "Paper Source" of "Page Setup..." 
  under Microsoft Word, please specify the tray for both "First 
  page:" and "Other pages:". Please don't use "Auto".
* If changing the setting in "Contrast" or "Brightness" of 
  [Quality] tab, Watermark might not be printed correctly. 
* If using Point and Print, Printing Preferences set up by the 
  client might be merged by the server.

3.2 Windows Me/98/95
* If making the setting in "Watermark" and "16 up", some data 
  might not print by error.

3.2.1 Problems refer to the compatibility of Application Software
Lotus 1-2-3 98/2000
* Cells attached pattern might not be printed correctly.

Microsoft Access97
* If printing the data after opening the preview, Some data might 
  not print by error. In this case, print the data without 
  opening the preview.

Microsoft Word97
* The outline font of 2-byte fonts might not print under Windows 
  95. 

Microsoft Excel97/2000
* If printing the data which used the text box with collate, it 
  might not be printed correctly. please select "Collate" of 
  [Paper] tab or change the size of the text box.

Adobe PageMaker/Corel DRAW
* If printing large data, it might not be print correctly.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
