[1. Main Features of the Utilities]

  This utility allows the user to monitor and change default values 
  for Kyocera Mita printers and copiers from the PC.
  The utility displays error messages and plays sound files when a 
  problem occurs on a printer or copier device.



[2. Operating System Requirements and Notes for Installation]

  - Please update your operating system with the latest Service Pack
    in order to maintain reliability.

  - With some printing devices,  this utility is unable to communicate 
    via LPT and COM port.


  2-1.  For the Windows 95 or 95 OSR2 operating systems

  - Please verify that Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.01 or 
    higher is installed.

   <Notes when connected to LPT, USB or COM>
    - If you are connected via LPT or COM, please verify that a Kyocera
      Mita KX driver has previously been installed. The utility cannot
      be used if a Kyocera Mita KX driver has not been installed. 

    - USB connections are not supported.


   <Notes when connected to a network>
    - Please verify that TCP/IP or the IPX protocol is installed.



  2-2.  For the Windows 98, 98 SE, or Millennium operating systems

   <Notes when connected to LPT, USB or COM>
    - If you are connected via LPT, USB or COM, please verify that a Kyocera
      Mita KX driver has previously been installed. The utility cannot
      be used if a Kyocera Mita KX driver has not been installed. 


   <Notes when connected to a network>
    - Please verify that TCP/IP or the IPX protocol is installed.



  2-3.  For the Windows NT 4.0 operating system

  - Please verify Service Pack 5 or higher is installed.
  - Administrator rights are required for installation.

   - Connection to LPT, USB or COM is not supported.


   <Notes when connected to network>
    - Please verify TCP/IP or IPX protocol is installed.



  2-4.  For the Microsoft Windows 2000, or Windows XP operating systems

  - Administrator rights are required for installation.

    - If you are connected via LPT, USB or COM, please verify that a Kyocera
      Mita KX driver has previously been installed. The utility cannot
      be used if a Kyocera Mita KX driver has not been installed.

[3. Frequently Asked Questions]

    Q: Cannot open the utility.

    A: Are you using an older version of Microsoft Internet Explorer?
       If so, please update to Microsoft Internet Explorer to 5.01 or higher.


    Q: Cannot connect to printer.

    A1: If the printer is connected to LPT, USB or COM:

        In order to connect with LPT, USB or COM, a Kyocera Mita KX driver needs to
        be installed.
        Please verify whether your current operating system complies with 
        section [2. Supported Environment and Notes during Installation]
        With some printing devices,  this utility is unable to communicate
        via LPT and COM port.
        

    A2: If the printer is connected to a network:

        When connecting a printer to a network, the TCP/IP or IPX protocol 
        needs to be installed.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
