README.TXT ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Compaq Global Mini PCI 56K (V.90) Modem Compaq 56K (V.90) Mini PCI 08/02/99 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Introduction: This diskette contains the script files needed to support the following applications: - Lotus Notes 3.2x and later - Lotus cc:Mail 7.0 - Microsoft MS-Mail 3.2 Remote Contents: A) Installing the Lotus Notes script file - Compaq 56K (V.90) Mini PCI: LN56KCOM.MDM - Compaq Global Mini PCI 56K (V.90) Modem: LN56KPCI.MDM B) Installing the cc:Mail 7.0 script file - Compaq 56K (V.90) Mini PCI: CC56KCOM.MDM - Compaq Global Mini PCI 56K (V.90) Modem: CC56KPCI.MDM C) Installing the Microsoft MS-Mail 3.2 script file - Compaq 56K (V.90) Mini PCI: MS56KCOM.SCR - Compaq Global Mini PCI 56K (V.90) Modem: MS56KPCI.SCR ----------------------------------------------------------------------- A) Installing the Lotus Notes script file *********************************************************************** (note: these instructions are based on Lotus Notes 4.x versions. Installation procedures may differ with older versions. Consult your user's manual for script installation instructions.) *********************************************************************** 1. Copy the appropriate MDM file to the \NOTES\DATA\MODEMS directory. 2. Open the Lotus Notes program and click on File/Tools/User Preferences from the menu bar. 3. In the User Preferences dialog box, click on the 'Ports' icon. 4. Make sure the COM port where the modem is located is selected, and that the 'Port Enabled' checkbox is checked. 5. Click on the 'COMx Options' button. 6. In the Additional Setup dialog box, click on the 'Modem Type' drop-down list and select the Compaq specific modem entry: "Compaq Global Mini PCI 56K (V.90) Modem" or "Compaq 56K (V.90) Mini PCI" depending on which modem you have installed in your system. 7. Make sure the following options are set: - maximum port speed = 115200 - port number = modem COM port number - hardware flow control is checked 8. Click on OK to close the Additional Setup dialog box, and close all remaining dialog boxes. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- B) Installing the cc:Mail 7.0 script file 1. Consult your user's manual for script installation. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- C) Installing the Microsoft MS-Mail 3.2 Remote script file 1. Copy the appropriate SCR file to the C:\WINDOWS\MS-Mail\MSRMT\GLB directory. 2. Open the MS-Mail Remote application and click on the 'Mail' option on the menu bar and then select 'Communications'. 3. In the 'Script' drop-down menu, select the Compaq specific modem entry from the modem list: "Compaq Global Mini PCI 56K (V.90) Modem" or "Compaq 56K (V.90) Mini PCI" depending on which modem you have installed in your system. 4. In the 'Communication' dialog, make sure that the baud rate is set to 57600 and the port is set to modem COM port number. 5. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
