1) ACCTON EN2226 PC CARD CHARACTERISTICS
   =====================================

This release of the Accton EN2226 PC Card has the following
   characteristics:

-Full suite of network driver support - Allows 10Mbps or 100Mbps
connection across a wide range of operating systems and networks.
Native 32-bit NDIS3 driver support for Windows 95 and Windows NT
    included.

-Windows 3.x installation program - Automatically configures both PC
and NOS setup directly from Windows versions 3.1 and 3.11.

-HotSwap support - Makes it easy to replace one card with another while
power is on; or to gracefully disconnect from the network.

2) RELEASE NOTES/KNOWN LIMITATIONS
    ===============================

    Supported Environments
    ----------------------

With this release, the following environments are supported:

-NDIS3 Driver for Microsoft Windows NT (Ver. 3.50, 3.51, 4.0)
      and Windows 95 (EN2226.SYS)
     -DOS ODI Driver (ACC2226.COM)
     -DOS NDIS2 Driver (EN2226.EXE)
     -Packet Driver (EN2226PD.COM)
     -NDIS2 Driver for OS/2 (EN2226.OS2)
     -ODI Driver for OS/2 (ACC2226.OS2)
     -Netware Server Driver (EN2226.LAN)
     -Diagnostic test program (ACCTEST.EXE)

      Known Limitations
     -----------------

-When Hotswapping under Windows For Workgroups, attempting to access
a network drive while the EN2226 Card is removed from the slot will
      result in a network error.

-SystemSoft's Card Wizard should not be loaded while running the EN2226
Installation Program. Card Wizard allocates the resources necessary for
the Installer to correctly diagnose the machine resources. Once
installation is complete, Card Wizard can be reloaded and used.

-Full-duplex Ethernet transmission is only supported on 10Mbps networks.
This feature is only available when the Adapter is connected to
      switched full-duplex 10Mbps Ethernet hubs.

-In order to connect to a 100Base-TX Ethernet network, a Category 5
unshielded twisted pair (UTP) network cable terminating in a male
RJ-45 connector must be connected to a 100Mbps hub or switch. Check
with your LAN Administrator if you are not certain of your network
      speed and infrastructure.

3) MS-DOS Card Service and Socket Service

Although the regular operation of the EN2226 DOS mode drivers, such as
the DOS ODI driver, the NDIS2 driver, and the packet driver, does not
depend on the presence of the Card and Socket Services in the system,
to take advantage of the full range of features and benefits of the
EN2226 PC Card under DOS, it is recommended to install the Card and
Socket Services. If your notebook computer does not come with these
services, ask your computer manufacturer or dealer for details on how to
   obtain them.

When the Card and Socket Services are installed in the sytem, you must
execute the OPEN16.EXE utility before running any of the drivers.
The OPEN16.EXE utility can either be executed from the DOS command
line, or it can be installed in CONFIG.SYS as a device driver. To see
an example on how the utility is used, you can consult the next section on
   the DOS ODI driver installation.

4) DOS ODI Driver Installation

You can use the DCOMPVLM.BAT program to expand and copy all the required
DOS ODI driver files from the \ODI directory on the network driver disk
to a designated directory. For example, if you would like to install the
driver files to C:\NWCLIENT, type "DCOMPVLM C:\NWCLIENT".

After all the driver files are expanded and copied to a directory,
You can use the following command sequence to logon to a Novell
   server:

   OPEN16
   LSL
   ACC2226
   IPXODI
   VLM

A batch file STARTNET.BAT with the above commands is also included.
You can just type "STARTNET" to logon on to the server.

5) MACHINE SPECIFIC NOTES
     ======================

     --------------------

-The HP 5000 will not function under Windows NT 3.51 using EN2226 card.

-When running DOS/ODI driver, Card Service & Socket Service need to be
loaded for the EN2226 card to be recognized.

     HP OmniBook 600C
     -------------------

-Under Windows 95, change the starting memory addresses to D4000
      and D8000.

-When running DOS/ODI driver, Card Service & Socket Service need to be
loaded for the EN2226 card to be recognized.

     HP OmniBook 4000C
     --------------------

-When Card/Socket Service is not being used, the EN2226 card
will only be recognized if it is inserted in the top PCMCIA (PC Card)
slot. In order for the card to be used in the bottom PCMCIA
(PC Card) slot, Card/Socket Service must be loaded.

     Sharp 8650
     ----------

-The Sharp 8650 must use a MEMWAITSTATES 1 keyword in either the
NET.CFG or PROTOCOL.INI files in order to function.

     Panasonic CF41
     --------------

-The EN2226 card will only be recognized if it is inserted in the top
      PCMCIA (PC Card) slot.

     Micron Millennium Transport
     --------------------------

-When running DOS/ODI driver, Card Service & Socket Service need to be
loaded for the EN2226 card to be recognized.

     AST Acenstia P
     --------------

-The Acenstia P Series of notebook computers requires the MEMWAITSTATES 1
keyword to be added to either the NET.CFG or the PROTOCOL.INI files in
      order to connect at 10Mbps.

     NEC Versa 4230
     ---------------

-When using SystemSoft's Card Wizard on the NEC Versa 4230, slow network
performance has been observed. Accton recommends removing Card Wizard
while using the EN2226 card to improve performance.

     Hitachi E 133
     -------------

-The Hitachi E 133 requires the MODE IO keyword to be added to the NET.CFG
or the PROTOCOL.INI when connecting at 100Mbps.

     TI Extensa 900
     ---------------

-Card/Socket Service must be loaded while using Accton's Installation
