6) Directory Layout: There are 1 subdirectory inside this package.
            \Drivers: VIA USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver and Filter 
                      Driver for Windows 98SE/Me.

                            
7) Driver installation:

 a) Windows XP
 
    Setup will install Microsoft USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver by default.

    ** Driver Installation **

      Click the SETUP.EXE program and select "Install" button then it will 
    install the "Microsoft USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver" automatically on 
    your Windows XP system.It will copy the driver to the system folder and 
    set the related registry tree. (Setup Program will also install the QFE 
    [Hotfix Q312370] package for English version FIRST. You do NOT need to do 
    it by yourself).

    ** Driver Uninstallation **
    ***************************
    
      You  could remove the "Microsoft USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver" by 
    selecting the "Uninstall" button. It will completely remove the driver 
    from the sytsem.

    ***************************************
    ** How to install VIA Driver Instead ** 
    ***************************************
    
    *NOTE: This is NOT Recommended.
    
      You can force Setup program to install VIA USB 2.0 Host Controller 
    Driver instead by following the procedures below:
        1. Edit VIAUSB.ini 
        2. Modify "Allways_Install_OM = 0" to be "Allways_Install_OM = 1"
        3. Save VIAUSB.ini
        4. Cilck SETUP.EXE
    
  b) Windows 98/Me/2000
  
    Setup will install VIA USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
