Things You Need =============== Before you start with the installation process make sure you have the following: a) Hardware Driver Disk b) Novell NetWare Version 3.12 AND V4.10 System Diskette 2. How To Install O.S. Driver ========================== a) Insert the Accton EN166X PnP ISA Adapter Driver Disk into drive A and check the contents of subdirectory \NETWARE It should contain the following file : ACC6X.LAN === Novell NetWare V3.12 Server Driver b) Copy the contents of the Novell NetWare 386 Version 3.11 System Diskette into your NetWare 386 server's hard disk. Please refer to your Novell NetWare 386 Installation Manual for details. c) Copy the ACC6X.LAN file from the Hardware Driver Disk into the NetWare server's hard disk. d) Run SERVER.EXE on the server station. Several NetWare messages will be shown on screen. e) At the NetWare prompt (indicated by a colon), run the driver program. Type the following line if using one adapter: : LOAD [d:]ACC6X Frame=frame_type <Enter> or type the following line if more adapters are used: : LOAD [d:]ACC6X SLOT=board# Frame=frame_type where board# is 0 to 4, because max number of adapters supported is 4 (You can reference the autoexec.ncf example included on the floppy) LOAD ACC6X SLOT=0 FRAME=Ethernet_802.3 BIND IPX ACC6X LOAD ACC6X SLOT=0 FRAME=Ethernet_802.2 BIND IPX ACC6X LOAD ACC6X SLOT=0 FRAME=Ethernet_SNAP BIND IPX ACC6X LOAD ACC6X SLOT=0 FRAME=Ethernet_II BIND IPX ACC6X f) Bind IPX with the LAN driver. At the Netware server prompt, type: :BIND IPX ACC6X <Enter> After pressing <Enter> the computer prompts you for the Network Number. For details on how to assign this number, please consult your NetWare 386 Installation Manual. If problems occur during the binding process, your screen will prompt you with error messages. Please refer to your NetWare 386 manual for details on these messages. The LAN driver installation is completed when you see the following message on screen: IPX LAN Protocol bound to NE Mode vx.xxRxx (yymmdd). Novell NetWare V4.11 Server Driver Installation =============================================== Requirements ------------ Make sure you have the following: 1. Driver Diskette Installation Procedure ---------------------- 1. Insert the Driver Diskette that comes with the package into drive A: and check the contents of the subdirectory \NETWARE. It should have the following files: ACC6X.LAN ----> your Novell NetWare v4.x Server Driver ACC6X.LDI ----> your Novell NetWare v4.x Server Driver configuration file 2. At the NetWare prompt (indicated by the Server name), run the INSTALL.NLM program by typing: server name: LOAD INSTALL <Enter> 3. Follow screen instruction to complete the process. Respond to prompts displayed on the screen. Select the following items in the order given below. Press <Enter> to confirm each choice: Maintenance/Selective Install <Enter> LAN Driver Options (Configure/Load/... <Enter> 4. Press the <Ins> key to insert other drivers you wish to install. 5. Press <F3> to display the driver path as follows: A:\NETWARE <Enter> 6. The ACC6X.LAN will appear as an item under the "Select a LAN Driver" menu. Choose the correct board number and Select it to load the driver and start the binding process. This will allow you to load and bind all 4 frame types supported by NetWare. 7. Next time you reboot your NetWare 4.11 server, do so by following steps 2 to 4 above. Notes about the Novell v4.x and the v3.1x drivers -------------------------------------------------- Installation Procedure ---------------------- 1. The NetWare v4.x and v3.11 drivers have different architectures. When using NetWare v4.x, you should load the NBI.NLM, MSM.NLM and ETHERTSM.NLM modules before loading the server driver ACC6X.LAN. 2. ACC6X.LAN is your server driver for NetWare v4.x. When loading ACC6X.LAN, it will check whether or not these three modules (NBI.NLM ,MSM.NLM and ETHERTSM.NLM) have been loaded. If not, it will load them automatically. 3. After the ACC6X.LAN is loaded, type the "MODULES" command to view and confirm that the additional modules, MSM.NLM and ETHERTSM.NLM are loaded. 4. The default frame type ACC6X.LAN binding for NetWare v4.x is Ethernet_802.2 and not Ethernet_802.3. 5. If you have any trouble loading NLM modules, Please refer to autoexec.ncf in each directory. Novell Netware Client for Windows NT v3.51 or later installation ================================================================ Requirements ------------ Before you start with the installation process make sure you have the following : a) Hardware Driver Disk Installation Procedure ---------------------- 1. Install the Accton EN166X PnP ISA Eethernet Adapter. 2. Install Microsoft Windows NT following the directions from Microsoft. NT networking can be installed at this time. However, bind the NT networking protocols to a different adapter than the adapter which the NetWare Requester will use. 3. Install the Novell Netware Client for Win NT following the directions Novell supplies. 4. During installation of the NT requestor, select "<Other> Requires disk from manufacturer". 5. Enter the full path to the Accton EN166X PnP ISA Eethernet OEMSETUP.INF file. The path is: "A:\NETWARE\". 6. Insert the Accton EN166X PnP ISA Ethernet support disk that shipped with your adapter and hit "continue". NOTE: The LAN Card driver may also appear on the Netware NT Requestor disks. When asked to select a driver it will appear in the list. To ensure you get the latest Accton Ethernet driver, use the driver off the Accton Support Disk. 7. Once the Netware Client for NT has read the OEMSETUP.INF file on the Accton Support Disk, the following line should appear in the dialog box: Accton EN166X PnP ISA Ethernet Adapter Select it. 8. After more files are copied from the Accton Support Disk, a dialog box will appear asking to specify the PORT. Enter the port address. 9. Follow the remaining instructions for the installation of the NT requestor. The installation is complete. Novell Netware Client for DOS32 installation ============================================ 1. If you have completed installing the Netware Client 32 for DOS, all you have to do is modify STARTNET.BAT. Please see the sample STARTNET.BAT below. If not, Please follow the steps 2 - step 7. Sample STARTNET.BAT is as follow: Accton EN166X PnP ISA Ethernet Adapter set in PnP mode: The slot parameter is needed when installing in PnP mode. Do NOT select the port number when installing in PnP mode. The following startnet.bat supports multiple adapters. The second adapter slot=<number> is added by you to support multiple adapters. Run INSTALL.EXE from Netware DOS 32 diskette 1 (or from Netware 4.11 CD). When the product manual appears, mark the "Netware Client 32 for DOS" item, then press <Enter>. 3. Select "OTHER DRIVERS" item from "32-bit Network Board Drivers" menu, then press <Enter>. 4. Select "USER SPECIFIED 32 BIT DRIVER." Press <Enter>. 5. Insert Accton EN166X PnP ISA Ethernet Adapter Driver Diskette into your floppy diskette drive, then specify the driver path like A: or B:. 6. Follow instructions to complete the Client32 for DOS software installation. 7. Reboot your machine. Novell Netware Client for Microsoft Windows 3.X installation ============================================================ Please refer to Content B. In step 2, mark "Netware Client 32 for DOS" and "Client 32 for Windows". In step 5, specify the driver path like A:\LANDRV32 or B:\LANDRV32. Then follow step 3..7 to complete the installation. Novell Netware Client for Microsoft Windows 95 installation =========================================================== If you have installed the Microsoft Client in your Windows 95 system, you should remove the adapter object and NDIS 2/3 driver of the adapter from the Windows 95 system. If you have previously installed an Accton EN166X PnP ISA Ethernet Adapter NDIS 2/3 driver, you should take the following steps before installing the Accton EN166X PnP ISA Ethernet Adapter Client32 driver. D.1 Remove the previously installed adapter object & driver of Accton EN166X PnP ISA Ethernet Adapter, if any. ============================================================== 1. Click the "My Computer" icon in the Main Program Group. 2. Click the "Control Panel" icon in the My Computer window. 3. Click the "System" icon in the Control Panel window. 4. Click the "Network adapter" icon in the System window. 5. Click the "Accton EN166X PnP ISA Ethernet Adapter" icon in the System window. 6. Click the <Remove> button, then click the <OK> button. 7. Close the opened windows. Note: If you NEVER pluged an Accton EN166X PnP ISA Ethernet Adapter into your PC, Procedure D.1 is not necessary. And you just start from Procedure D.2. D.2 Client 32 Driver Installation on Windows 95 =============================================== 8. Plug Accton's EN166X PnP ISA Ethernet Adapter onto one of the ISA or EISA slots of your PC machine. 9. Turn the power on to boot up Windows 95. 10. Windows 95 will then prompt with "Accton EN166X PnP ISA Ethernet Adapter" in the New Hardware Found dialog box. 11. Follow instructions to complete the installation. Note: Windows 95 will ask you to key in the proper path of the following diskette: a. Netware Client 32 for Windows 95 Disk, b. ISA-Bus Ethernet PnP Adapter Driver Diskette --> Insert Driver Diskette, then, assign the path to A:\LANDRV32 or B:\LANDRV32 c. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
