MarkVision for Windows 3.1 Paging System Installation Utilities ------------------- README.TXT CONTENTS ------------------- - Overview - User Tips and Recommendations -------- OVERVIEW -------- The MarkVision Paging System (MPS) application, an update version of MarkVision and an installation utility for loading MPS on Windows 3.1 systems, is included on one diskette. The MPS installation utility updates MarkVision, and any support files, with newer versions if required. You must have a version of MarkVision installed on your system prior to installing MPS. MPS provides the capability to send a message to an alphanumeric pager when a printer requires user intervention. MPS is a companion application, that runs in conjunction with MarkVision, to provide this capability. MarkVision and MPS communicate through the standard Windows Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) protocol. Some of the features of MPS are: - a fully customizable notification interface. This includes the following for each potential alert on each printer: * the ability enable/disable alert notification * the time delay to wait for the alert to clear before initiating a page * primary and secondary paging subscribers to notify with alerts - the ability to easily set up multiple subscribers using multiple paging providers. Paging provider information has to be entered only once and all subscribers use this information for initiating pages. - seamless integration with MarkVision. MPS automatically detects whether or not MarkVision is running and initiates a data link with MarkVision whenever MarkVision is present, even if MarkVision is started after MPS. MarkVision can also be launched from within MPS. - convenient alert and paging logging to file. Alerts, alert cleared and page sent messages can all be logged to a tab delimited ascii text file. The data in this file includes the time, printer and message associated with each event. - the ability to manually send a page from MPS. ----------------------------- USER TIPS AND RECOMMENDATIONS ----------------------------- * MarkVision must be installed on your system prior to installing MPS.
