Note that Windows 98 is a plug and play OS, and it will auto-detect the "Compex RE100TX 10_100 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter". ***Note : This driver is not for Windows 95 versions. This is only for Windows 98. ********************** INSTALLATION GUIDE ********************** Most system comes with pre-installed Windows 98. This installation steps assumed your PC has Windows 98 pre-installed. 1) Please remove any previous installations of "Compex RE100TX 10_100 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter" drivers in the Network Applet of the Control Panel. 2) * Power OFF your computer and install only 2 "Compex RE100TX 10_100 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter" type cards in available PCI Slots. * Ensure the PCI slot supports bus-mastering and is enabled. * Power ON your computer. 3) When Windows 98 starts, Windows "Add Hardware Wizard" will automatically detect and find the new PCI card and display the message, "PCI Ethernet Card" Insert the "Driver Disk" in floppy disk drive A and click NEXT button. 4) Windows 98 then provides the following options to look for the driver. o - Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended) o - Display a list of all the drivers in the specific location so you can select the driver you want. Choose the first one and click NEXT, 5) Windows 98 then lets you check on one or more of the following o - Floppy Disk Drive o - CR-ROM o - Specifiy a location Check only on "Floppy Disk Drive" option and click NEXT, ***Note: If you have not inserted the driver disk after you click NEXT, insert the "Driver Disk" and click BACK button to back step once then click NEXT button again to read the disk. 6) Windows will display the following: "Compex RE100TX 10_100 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter" Click NEXT, to start copying the driver. 7) Windows will prompt for the location again for the file RETKW98.SYS * Enter A:\TRUNKING\WIN98 * Click NEXT. 8) Windows will continue to copy all related files from Windows 98 CDROM. When completed it will prompt to Restart the computer. Click NO. 9) Windows 98 "Add Hardware Wizard" will now detect the second "Compex RE100TX 10_100 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter" * Repeat steps 3-8 again. * Click NO if Windows further prompts to Restart the computer. ***Note: Both the cards must be installed before restarting. 10) Windows will start-up to the Active desktop. Click on the Network applet in the Control Panel. You should find the following items: o- Client for Microsoft Network o- Compex RE100TX 10_100 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter o- Compex RE100TX 10_100 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter o- TCP/IP->Compex RE100TX 10_100 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter ** Note: Only one TCP/IP protocol stack should be display. * Add Files and Printing share services. * Configure the TCP/IP settings. **Note : Add other protocols, if needed. The Trunking/Failover Driver only supports TCP/IP protocol. 11) When completed, Windows will again prompt to restart the machine. Click YES. 12) When Windows is restarted, you are connected to the network. ----------- END ------------Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
