Windows NT Installation Guide
ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
Before inserting your Compex LinkPort\TX16A PCMCIA Fast Ethernet card,
the system's PCMCIA chipset must be enabled and functioning.
The PCMCIA chipset is responsible for controlling the systems interface
for PC Cards.
Please consult the system's manual or manufacture for use with Windows NT.
Please resolve all system conflicts, errors, and Windows NT issues
before installing the Compex LinkPort\TX16A PCMCIA Fast Ethernet card.
Please have the installation media for Windows NT ready for
any file request. The following installation does require a
basic knowledge of the NT environment.
It is not necessary to install enabler software (either a Card Enabler
or Card and Socket Services ) when installing LinkPort/TX16A card under
Windows NT 4.0. This driver will directly configure the PCMCIA Ethernet
card for the Intel 82365SL and other PCMCIA controllers which are
compatible with it.
Windows NT v4.0 Installation
ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
The procedure assumed Windows NT v4.0 is already installed to your
notebook.
1) Power OFF the machine and insert Compex LinkPort\TX16A PCMCIA adapter
into one of the PCMCIA slots in your notebook.
2) Power ON and startup Windows NT.
3) Click on My Computer | Control Panel | Network
4) Click on ADAPTER tab on top.
5) Click on ADD button.
6) A list of adapters appear. Do not select from the list.
Instead, click on Have Disk option below.
7) Insert LinkPort driver disk in drive A
8) When prompt for the driver, enter A:\
Click OK
9) The LinkPort\TX16A properties page appears.
The default setting are:
I/O Base address: 0x300
Interrupt : 5
Connection Type : Autosense
Make the necessary changes if any of the setting conflicts with
another device. The table of the supported list is shown below.
Click OK to accept the settings.
11) If may have to assign a machine and workgroup name if you have not
done so. Click on Identification tab on top.
12) You may also want to add additional protocols and services from the
Protocol and Services tabs.
By default, TCPIP protocol is automatically added.
13) Click OK below when finished. Windows NT will complete the rest of the
installation.
14) Restart Windows NT and LinkPort\TX16A is now ready to service the network.
Refer to Windows NT manual for more details on how to add others services and
protocols support.
Windows NT v3.5x Installation

Getting Started

Remove all PC Cards from the system
Start/Boot Windows NT
Login with a user with full access (ie. ADMINISTRATOR)
Remove any previous network support
-Open the PROGRAM MANAGER
-Open the MAIN group
-Run the CONTROL PANEL
-Run the NETWORK selection
-Highlight each network option and remove them
Note: Remove any adapters first, then server,
workstation, etc.
-After all support is removed, press CLOSE
-Restart Windows NT
Add PCMCIA Support to your laptop
-Open the PROGRAM MANAGER
-Open the MAIN group
-Run the CONTROL PANEL
-Run the DEVICES selection
-Select PCMCIA
-Press STARTUP
-Select BOOT so that it will start each time NT boots.
-Press OK
-After all PCMCIA support is added press CLOSE
-Restart Windows NT
Verify the system will reboot without any errors in the
Event Viewer Consult your Laptop manufacture for any problems
that may develop during pre-installation.
Insert Compex LinkPort\TX16A PCMCIA Fast Ethernet card into one of
the system's PCMCIA Slots
Boot/Start Windows NT
Login with a user with full access (ie. ADMINISTRATOR)
Open the PROGRAM MANAGER
Open the MAIN group
Run the CONTROL PANEL
Run the NETWORK selection
Press YES to install network support
Supply a path of the NT installation media (ie NT CD-ROM: D:\i386)
Press DO NOT DETECT for the network adapter
Pull the NETWORK ADAPTER CARD selection list to the bottom
Select <OTHER> REQUIRES DISK FROM MANUFACTURE
Click CONTINUE button
Insert the Compex LinkPort\TX16 PCMCIA driver disk into drive A:
Supply the followng path to the drivers A:\
Highlight the only choice for the Compex LinkPort\TX16A 10/100 Fast
Ethernet card and press OK
A dialog box will appear to adjust the driver's settings.
Adjust the driver to the system's resources, these selections
must be unique for this device.

Windows NT will load network support, and allow configuration of
-NWLink
-TCP/IP
-Netbeui
These selection and configurations are for the user. We
cannot help configure these because they are unique for each
network. Please see the Network Administrator for help.
Once all Network software is loaded Press OK
The configuration and bindings for the card may
be confirmed, answer the questions accordingly.
Allow the system to reboot.
Connect to a network using the provide 100BaseTX cable
Test the adapter
-Open the PROGRAM MANAGER
-Open the MAIN group
-Run the FILE MANAGER
-Select DISK on the menu
-Select CONNECT TO NETWORK DRIVE
-If any computers are displayed on the network
the system is working
The card installations is complete should any error arise
in the EventViewer please start at the top of the document
again.

Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
