³ INTRODUCTION ³
ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ
The installation for LinkPort/ENET-B adapter in Windows 2000 is menu
driven through Windows interface. The directory structure provided on the
driver diskette has been setup for automatic OEM installation.
The file "CLPEB2.INF" is the setup file in A:\WIN2000 directory that
Windows will execute during installation.

Refer to Microsoft Windows 2000 manuals for further details.

  WINDOWS 2000 Installation
 
    INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:

  Most system comes with pre-installed Windows 2000.
  This installation steps assumed your PC has Windows pre-installed.

  1) Startup Windows 2000 on the notebook and insert LinkPort card in
     one of the free PCNMCIA slot.

  2) Windows will automatically detect the adapter and display the message,

                    "TACKRAM Ethernet Card"
	       OR 	
		    "PCMCIA Ethernet Card"

     Insert LinkPort/ENET-B driver disk in floppy drive A and click NEXT button.

  3) Windows then provide the following options to search the LinkPort driver.

         o - Search for the best driver for your device
             (Recommanded)

         o - Display a list of all the drivers in the specific location
             so you can select the driver you want.

       Chose the first one and click NEXT,
                        
     3) Windows then let you mark on one or more of the following

         o - Floppy Disk Drive
         o - CR-ROM
        _/ - Specify a location

        Check only on "Specify a Location" option and type in
        A:\WIN2000 then click NEXT,

    * Hint:- If you have not inserted the driver disk after you click NEXT,
             insert the LinkPort/ENET-B driver disk and click BACK button will
             back step the setup once then click NEXT button to read the disk.

     4) Windows will display the following;

       "Compex LinkPort ENET-B Ethernet LAN Adapter"

        Click NEXT, to start copy the driver.

     5) Windows will contiune to copy all related files from Windows
        CDROM. When completed it will prompt to Restart the machine.
        At this point you may want to add and/or change to other network
        protocols, Windows clients, and other services.
        Then click "NO" and Windows will start up to the Active desktop.
        Click on the Network applet in Control Panel to add/or make the
        changes. Refer to Windows manual for more details.

        Click YES if you do not intend to add additional services, clients
        and protocols.
        By default, Windows install only the following;

          o-   Client for Microsoft Network
          o-   Compex LinkPort ENET-B Ethernet Adapter
          o-   TCPIP

       If your machine will share it resources, add Files and Printing
       share services.
       Refer to Windows help for details on adding these.

    6) When completed, Windows will again prompt to restart the machine.
       Click YES.

    7) When Windows restarted, Compex LinkPort/ENET-B adpater is ready to
       access the network.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
