   INTRODUCTION 
   ------------
The installation for Compex iWavePort\WL11A adapter in Windows 2000 is menu
driven through Windows interface. The directory structure provided on the
driver diskette has been setup for automatic installation.
The file "NETCW10.INF" is the setup file in A:\ directory that
Windows will execute during installation.

Refer to Microsoft Windows 2000 manuals for further details.

  WINDOWS 2000 Installation
 
    INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:

  Most system comes with pre-installed Windows 2000.
  This installation steps assumed your PC has Windows pre-installed.

  1) If your notebook is started up. Insert WL11A card in a free PCMCIA or CardBus slot. 
     If you install into a desktop, first plug WL11A card into the PCI Converter.
     Then install it in a free PCI slot in desktop before power ON.  

  2) When Windows 2000 starts, Windows 'Add Hardware Wizard' will automatically
     detect and found the new PCI card and display the message,

                    " INTERSIL HFA384x/IEEE "

     Insert WL11A driver disk in floppy disk drive A and click NEXT button.

  3) The Add New Hareware Wizard screen display the following:

         What would you like to do ?
         _/ - Automatic search for a better driver (Recommended)
         o - Specific the location on the drive (Advanced)

      Recommended to use the first option. To continue click Next button. 
                    
  4) Windows then let you mark on one or more of the following

        _/ - Floppy Disk Drive
         o - CR-ROM
         o - Specifiy a location

      Check only on "Floppy Disk Drive" option and click NEXT,

     * Hint:- If you have not inserted the driver disk after you click NEXT,
              insert the WL11A driver disk and click BACK button to back
              step once then click NEXT button again to read the disk.

   5) Windows will display the following;

	       "Compex iWavePort/WL11A 11Mbps Wireless LAN Adapter"
              
        Click NEXT, to start copy the driver.

   6) Windows will contiune to copy all related files from Windows 2000
      CDROM. When completed it will prompt to Restart the machine.
      At this point you may want to add and/or change to other network
      protocols, Windows clients, and other services.
      Then click "NO" and Windows will start up to the Active desktop.
      Click on the Network applet in Control Panel to add/or make the
      changes. Refer to Windows manual for more details.

      Click YES if you do not intend to add additional services, clients
      and protocols.
      By default, Windows 2000 install only the following;

          o-   Client for Microsoft Network
          o-   Compex iWavePort\WL11A Wireless LAN Adapter
          o-   TCPIP

      
       If your machine will share it resources, add Files and Printing
       share services.
       Refer to Windows help for details on adding these.

  7) When completed, Windows will again prompt to restart the machine.
     Click YES.

  8) When Windows restarted, wireless adapater is ready to access the network.


 Procees to install the wireless utility. To install run SETUP.EXE from disk 1
  The utility will look for more files in disk 2. Insert it when prompted.
  Recommended to let the utility install with its default setup.   
  Click Next or OK when promot to complete the installation. 
  Click Restart Windows when prompt.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
