 INTRODUCTION 
 ------------ 
The installation for FL1000-T PCI adapter in Windows 98, 98SE and ME is menu 
driven through Windows interface. The directory structure provided on the driver
diskette has been setup for automatic OEM installation.
The file "NET83820.INF" is the setup file in A:\WIN98 directory that Windows
New Hardware Found wizard execute when installing the driver.

Refer to Microsoft Windows manuals for further details.

  WINDOWS 98, 98SE and ME Installation
 
  INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:
  ----------------------
  Most system comes with pre-installed Windows 98, 98SE and ME.
  This installation steps assumed your PC has the above Windows pre-installed.

  1) Power OFF the PC and install FL1000-T card in a free PCI slot.
     Ensure the PCI slot supports busmastering and is enabled.
     For best performance, install in a 64-bit slot.

  2) When Windows starts, 'Add Hardware Wizard' will automatically
     detect and found the new PCI card and display the message,

                    "PCI Ethernet Card"

     Insert FL1000-T driver disk in floppy disk drive A and click NEXT button.

  3) Windows then provide the followin options to look for the RL100ATX driver.

         _/ - Search for the best driver for your device
             (Recommanded)

         o - Display a list of all the drivers in the specific location
             so you can select the driver you want.

       Chose Search for best driver option and click NEXT,
                        
     3) Windows then let you mark on one or more of the following

         o - Floppy Disk Drive
         o - CR-ROM
        _/ - Specify a location

        Check only on "Specify a Location" option and type in
        A:\WIN98 then click NEXT,

    * Hint:- If you have not inserted the driver disk after you click NEXT,
             insert the FL1000-T driver disk and click BACK button to back
             step once then click NEXT button again to read the disk.

     4) Windows will display the following;

       "Compex FreedomLine 1000Base-T PCI Adapter"

        Click NEXT, to start copy the driver.

     5) Windows will contiune to copy all related files from Windows CDROM. 
        When completed it will prompt to Restart the machine.
        At this point you may want to add and/or change to other network
        protocols, Windows clients, and other services.
        Then click "NO" and Windows will start up to the Active desktop.
        Click on the Network applet in Control Panel to add/or make the
        changes. Refer to Windows manual for more details.

        Click YES if you do not intend to add additional services, clients
        and protocols.
        By default, Windows install only the following;

          o-   Client for Microsoft Network
          o-   Compex FreedomLine 1000Base-T PCI Adapter
          o-   TCPIP

       If your machine will share it resources, add Files and Printing
       share services.
       Refer to Windows help for details on adding these.

    6) When completed, Windows will again prompt to restart the machine.
       Click YES.

    7) When Windows restarted, Compex FL1000-T PCI adpater is ready to
       access the network.
                


Uninstall FL1000-T Windows 98 driver
------------------------------------
After the first successfully installation for FL1000-T PCI adapter, if for any
reason have removed the network adapter entry in Network applet in Control Panel,
Windows will be automatically remove the driver completely. 
To uninstalled the driver files completely do the following,

  A) First run UNFL1K98.bat to remove the driver.
      i) From Windows goto DOS prompt and run UNFL1K98.bat from the disk
          root directory.
               e.g.,
                     A:\Win98\UNFL1K98

     ii) To proceed to remove the drivers, press any key to continue.
         If you changed you mind, press CTRL-C to abort.


  B) Then goto Control Panel | Network applet| to remove the adapter from
     the network list.
  C) Answer YES to restart Windows.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
