Driver installation Guide for Novell NetWare Server ========================================================= Introduction ============ This document describes the procedure to install 32bit ODI driver on Novell Netware 4.x/5.x Server for Compex FreedomLine 1000Base-T PCI Adapter. Location of Driver: \NETWARE\DP83820.LAN Installation Procedure ====================== A. Novell NetWare v4.x: -------------------- Before you load the DP83820 NIC LAN driver, please add "SET Minimum Packet Receive Buffers = 1500" in the STARTUP.NCF. 1. Copy all the LAN driver from 'a:\NETWARE' directory of the driver diskette to the directory where the NetWare 4.x system files are locatted (\SYSTEM). 2. Boot NetWare file server by executing "SERVER" as you usually do. 3. To load the driver manually, simply at the system console screen type the following command: : Load DP83820 Frame=Ethernet_802.3 or, you can directly load file from the driver diskette: : Load A:\NETWARE\DP83820 Frame=Ethernet_802.3 Note: (1) NBI.NLM, MSM.NLM, ETHERTSM.NLM can be auto-loaded when loading LAN driver. (2) Frame type depends on your network frame type. (Default frame type is Ethernet_802.2). 4. To bind IPX to the adapter driver, type: : Bind IPX to DP83820 Net=12345 Note: Net value depend on your network configuration. 5. To load the driver automatically when server start-up, you must create or edit 'AUTOEXEC.NCF'. --- Sample AUTOEXEC.NCF file --- (1) One PCI board with multiple frame: REM Load the MSM and TSM on Netware 4.1x REM ------------------------------------ load nbi load msm load ethertsm REM Working with DP83820 driver (one PCI board) REM ------------------------------------------- load DP83820 frame=ethernet_802.2 name=e1 load DP83820 frame=ethernet_802.3 name=e2 load DP83820 frame=ethernet_ii name=e3 load DP83820 frame=ethernet_snap name=e4 bind ipx to e1 net=10 bind ipx to e2 net=20 bind ipx to e3 net=30 bind ipx to e4 net=40 (2) Mutiple PCI board with multiple frame: REM Load the MSM and TSM on Netware 4.1x REM ------------------------------------ load nbi load msm load ethertsm REM Working with DP83820 driver (multiple PCI boards) REM ------------------------------------------------- load DP83820 frame=ethernet_802.2 name=e1 slot=16 load DP83820 frame=ethernet_802.3 name=e2 slot=16 load DP83820 frame=ethernet_ii name=e3 slot=16 load DP83820 frame=ethernet_snap name=e4 slot=16 bind ipx to e1 net=10 bind ipx to e2 net=20 bind ipx to e3 net=30 bind ipx to e4 net=40 load DP83820 frame=ethernet_802.2 name=e5 slot=17 load DP83820 frame=ethernet_802.3 name=e6 slot=17 load DP83820 frame=ethernet_ii name=e7 slot=17 load DP83820 frame=ethernet_snap name=e8 slot=17 bind ipx to e5 net=50 bind ipx to e6 net=60 bind ipx to e7 net=70 bind ipx to e8 net=80 B. Novell NetWare v5.x: -------------------- Before you load the DP83820 NIC LAN driver, please add "SET Minimum Packet Receive Buffers = 1500" in the STARTUP.NCF. 1.
