Installing the Dell Data Protection | Hardware Crypto Accelerator (HCA) Device Driver

 

***NOTE***

The DDP | HCA driver must be installed by a user with Administrator privileges.

Please consult your system administrator or the Microsoft Windows user documentation for more information on Administrator privileges.



Once files are unzipped, following the instructions below for installation procedure in various OS.

Installing driver in Windows XP

-----------------------------------

1. From the Windows taskbar, click Start.  Right click My Computer-> Properties. 



2. Under System Properties menu, click Hardware tab->Device Manager.



3. Under Other devices, locate the Network and Computing Encryption/Decryption Controller with yellow question mark in front.  

   Right click the device and click Update Driver.



4. Hardware Update Wizard window appears, under "Can Windows connect to Windows update to search for software," select  "No, not this time", click Next.



5. Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), click Next, select "Search for the best driver in these locations.",  

   check "include this location in the search", click "Browse", browse to the folder where the unzipped driver file is located. 



6. Click OK. Back to the Hardware Update Wizard, click Next, driver installation process starts.



7. Click Finish to complete the driver installation. If prompted to restart your computer, click Yes. 

   The installation (or reinstallation) of the DDP | HCA Driver in XP is now complete.

Installing driver for Windows Vista

-----------------------------------

1. From the Windows taskbar, click the Start icon, then click Control Panel. From the Classic View, double-click Device Manager to display the Device Manager window. 



2. Under Other devices, locate the Network and Computing Encryption/Decryption Controller with yellow question mark in front.  

   Right click the device and click Update Driver Software.



3. Update Driver Software window appear, click "Browse my computer for driver software"



4. Under "Search for driver software in this location", type the file path where the unzipped driver file is located.  

   Or click "Browse", browse to the folder where the unzipped driver file is located. 



5. Click OK. Driver installation process starts.



6. Click Close to complete the driver installation. If prompted to restart your computer, click Yes. 

   The installation (or reinstallation) of the DDP | HCA Driver in Vista is now complete.

Installing driver for Windows 7

1. From the Windows taskbar, click the Start icon, type Device Manager in the Search window.  Click Device Manager under search results to display 

   the Device Manager window



2. Under Other devices, locate the Network and Computing Encryption/Decryption Controller with yellow question mark in front.  

   Right click the device and click Update Driver Software.



3. Update Driver Software window appear, click "Browse my computer for driver software"



4. Under "Search for driver software in this location", type the file path where the unzipped driver file is located.  

   Or click "Browse", browse to the folder where the unzipped driver file is located. 



5. Click OK. Driver installation process starts.



6. Click Close to complete the driver installation. If prompted to restart your computer, click Yes. 

   The installation (or reinstallation) of the DDP | HCA Driver in Win7 is now complete.

Installing driver for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1

1. Type devmgmt.msc in Search bar. 



2. Click on Device Manager (devmgmt) in the Search window.  

   

3. Under Other devices, locate the Network and Computing Encryption/Decryption Controller with yellow question mark in front.  

   Right click the device and click Update Driver Software.



4. Update Driver Software window appear, click "Browse my computer for driver software"



5. Under "Search for driver software in this location", type the file path where the unzipped driver file is located.  

   Or click "Browse", browse to the folder where the unzipped driver file is located. 



6. Click OK. Driver installation process starts.



7. Click Close to complete the driver installation. If prompted to restart your computer, click Yes. 

   The installation (or reinstallation) of the DDP | HCA Driver in Win8 is now complete.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
