They are used with 3Com 3+Open, Microsoft OS/2 LAN Manager OEM distribution, Release 1.x or 2.x, and other compatible OEM versions of LAN Manager. The drivers named ETHPOCK conform to the Network Driver Interface Specification (NDIS) defined by Microsoft/3Com. Included in MSLANMAN.DOS subdirectory are thefollowing files: \MSLANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\ACCTON\ACCEP\ ETHPOCK.DOS The DOS NDIS MAC driver PROTOCOL.INI A sample section of PROTOCOL.INI file \MSLANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\NIF\ ACCEP.NIF Network Information File ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ INITIAL INSTALLATION ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ 1) Install the adapter. Proper installation can be verified by running the diagnostic program under DOS. Note that the diagnostic program will not run properly from the OS/2 compatibility box. 2) Use SETUP utility provided by LAN Manager to inatall the ACCTON'S NDIS driver . Choose the "Import Network drivers" option and insert THIS DRIVER DISKETTE to diskette drive and then you can configure your system to ACCTON'S driver ETHPOCK.DOS 3) Modify the PROTOCOL.INI file if you are not using the default setting. 4) Modify the CONFIG.SYS file to add EPP enabler as device driver such as: DEVICE=EN-EPP.EXE It is important that EN-EPP must add to CONFIG.SYS before other network driver. ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ ADDITIONAL PARAMETERS IN THE PROTOCOL.INI FILE FOR THE ACCTON ETHERPOCKET LAN MANAGER DRIVER CONFIGURATION. ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ Keyword Parameter UNI-DIRECTION Adding this keyword in PROTOCOL.INI file will force the pocket driver to run under UNI-Direction mode. Unless necessary, don't use this function. Accton driver can detect the printer port operation mode automatically. BI-DIRECTION Adding this keyword in PROTOCOL.INI file will force the pocket driver to run under BI-Direction mode. Unless necessary, don't use this function. Accton driver can detect the printer port operation mode automatically. If your PC's printer port only support uni-dirction mode (Slow mode), you can't add this keyword, otherwise it can't work fine. EPP Adding this keyword in PROTOCOL.INI file will force the pocket driver to run under EPP mode (Enhance Printer Port ). Unless necessary, don't use this function. Accton driver can detect the printer port operation mode automatically. If your PC's printer port only support SPP mode (Standard Printer Port) or you didn't enable the EPP circkit, you can't add this keyword, otherwise it can't work fine. IRQ 5, 7 Default 7 Interrupt number of this printer port. It is not necessary to set this parameter, because the driver can detect this number automatically. LPT 1 .. 4 default 4 The printer port number that you used. It is not necessary to set this parameter, because the driver can detect this number automatically. MaxMultiCast 1 .. 1000 Default 10 Maximum number of MultiCast Addresses. This configures the size of the MultiCast Address Table. MaxRequests 6 .. 64 Default 8 Maximum number of outstanding GeneralRequests. This configures the size of the GeneralRequest Queue. MaxTransmits 6 .. 64 Default 12 Maximum number of outstanding TransmitChain commands. This configures the size of the TransmitChain Request Queue. MaxReceives 6 .. 96 Default 12 Maximum number of outstanding ReceiveChain commands. This configures the size of the ReceiveChain Request Queue. ReceiveBuffers 6 .. 96 Default 12 Configures the number of the Receive buffers in the Receive Buffer Pool. TransmitBufSize 128 .. 1514 Default 1514 Configures the size (in bytes) of buffers in the Transmit Buffer Pool. ReceiveBufSize 128 .. 1536 Default 256 Configures the size (in bytes) of buffers in the Receive Buffer Pool. ****** Note 1: It is not a good recommendation for the EtherPocket OS/2 LAN Manager Driver to be used as a server driver. Note 2: Values for the preceding parameters are seldom changed by the user. Most of the time, the default values are used. ****** Trademarks: Microsoft OS/2 LAN Manager is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation. 3Com, 3+, 3+Open and EtherLink II are registered trademarks of 3Com Corporation.Download Driver Pack
