Be sure you have unzipped this into a folder of its own.

**** ALWAYS MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE NO CD DISK IN DRIVE DURING THE
       FIRMWARE UPGRADE ******


Click on the SAF.exe file

In the white rectangle highlight the SAF drive which you have.

Make sure the Bios type is set for the CD drive which you have

  ( for ex: if you have an IDE drive it should read 'ATAPI'
   If you have a SCSI drive it should read 'SCSI') click arrow to the
   right of the present Bios type to get correct one for your system)

If CD drive is correct and Bios type is correct:
  Click 'Update' button on upper left
 In next screen click the hex file name in right most section 
   ( there should be only one listing)  When highlighted that
  same listing will show in a box on the lower left.
  Click 'OK'

A message screen will popup which should say something like
  'Wait a minute please'
   'Reading Data'
  Soon the 'Reading Data' will change to 'Dowloading Data'
  The light(s) on the CD-R/W will flash a number of times.
  The process may take several minutes.

When it is finished you will get a screen saying 'Update Completed'
  It will also ask you if you want to shutdown the computer.  Choose
  shutdown the computer.


As soon as the computer is shutdown, it can be restarted and the firmware
should be changed.  Check device manager under CD-ROM catagory and under
your drive and in the 'Settings' section in the upper right corner.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
