I. Plus Module Installation
A Plus Module for Tivoli has been provided and should be installed from
the Tivoli desktop. From the Tivoli desktop menu select "Install" and
then select "Install Product..." Use "Select Media..." to point to the
directory which contains the folder for this README. Select MarkVisionPlus
Module for Tivoli, Version 3.0a and then select Install & Close to install the
Plus Module as shown below:
Note: The Plus Module Support (Link binaries) – 3.2.d must be installed before
attempting to install the MarkVisionPlus Module for Tivoli.
The Plus Module contains a script which must be run so that the Tivoli Event
Server can recognize and process printer events which have been defined by
MarkVision Professional. From the Tivoli desktop, double-click on the TivoliPlus
icon. From the TivoliPlus window double-click on the MarkVision Plus for Tivoli
icon, and then run the Setup_TEC_Event_Server_for_Markvision task.
II. MarkVision Professional Event Adapter Installation
MarkVision Professional’s event integration solution for Tivoli is available as
part of the MarkVision Professional installation--specifically as part of MarkVision
Messenger. The MarkVision Professional installation can be reached by
selecting Printer Software from the CD installation screen.
Note: You must choose Custom install.
As part of the Custom Setup installation, an option is included to install the
MarkVision Professional components needed to configure MarkVision Professional’s
custom event adapter for Tivoli.
The MarkVision Professional tab will reveal the optional MarkVision
Professional components that can be installed. Because the custom event
adapter for Tivoli is integrated directly into MarkVision Messenger, at a
minimum, the following components must be selected for
installation:
· MarkVision Server
· MarkVision Messenger
· MarkVision Application or MarkVision Web Client
Once the installation has completed, the event adapter must be created and
configured from within MarkVision Messenger.
III. MarkVision Professional Event Adapter Configuration
Actions that monitor Device Status Alerts in MarkVision Messenger can now
be configured to use a new command type called:
"Send Device Status Alerts to a Tivoli Event Server".
This new command type acts as a custom event adapter for Tivoli --
it converts MarkVision Professional Printer alerts into Tivoli Events, then
forwards those events on to a Tivoli Event Server.
The parameters to be configured for this new command type include:
- the location of the Tivoli Event Server
- the port on the Tivoli Event Server to which events should be sent
- the file in which events are to buffered in the case that the Tivoli
event server cannot be contacted.
IV. MarkVision Professional Printer Alerts
The MarkVision Professional Event Adapter converts printer generated NPAP
alerts into events which are recognizable by Tivoli. A new event class,
MVP_Printer_Alert, is derived from Tivoli's base event class such
that printer specific information can be captured and recorded in a
Tivoli event. The following defines the new MVP_Printer_Alert event
class:
TEC_CLASS:
MVP_Printer_Alert ISA EVENT
