This notice is a software update on the Acc-10 Network Testing
Program used in the system diagnostics test of the following Acc-
10 network adapters :

Furthermore, it also invalidates Chapter 5 System Diagnostics of
the Installation Manual of the products mentioned above. All
changes discussed in this notice will be contained in Version
1.02 of your Hardware Installation Manual.
1. The Acc-10 Network Testing Program - ACCTEST
ACCTON provides a Network Testing Program (ACCTEST) that comes
with every Acc-10 product package to enable you to perform a
simple systems diagnostics test on your adapter. This program
provides the following tests for your adapters :
* Configuration test
* I/O test
* ID test
* RAM test
* Internal loopback test
* External loopback test
* Interrupt test
* Network function test
The tests given above applies to all the Acc-10 products covered
by this technical notice with the exception of the configuration
test, which is not performed for the EtherPair-8W[B] and
EtherCoax-8W[B] adapters.
2. Test Requirements
To perform the ACCTEST, at least two workstations equipped with
any of the Acc-10 adapters are necessary. The ACCTEST program
must be executed in both stations one after the other.
3. Using the ACCTEST Program
Run the Acc-10 Network Testing Program to ensure that the whole
network is in good condition. To do this, please insert the Acc-
10 Hardware Driver Disk into drive A:, then type :
A:> ACCTEST [/I:base_io_address /Q:interrupt_channel
/A:share_RAM_address] <Enter>
where:
[/I:base_io_address /Q:interrupt_channel /A:share_RAM_address]
is an optional parameter. You can ignore it if you are using the
factory default settings. The definition of these three switches
are:
/I:base_io_address : Specifies the base i/o address used
instead of using the default address.
/Q:interrupt_channel: Specifies the interrupt channel used
instead of using the default channel IRQ3.
/A:share_RAM_address: This parameter is only for the EtherPair-
8W[B] and the EtherCoax-8W[B] adapters. It
specifies the share RAM address used
instead of using the default address
0D000H.
If you have changed the default settings by adjusting the jumpers
on your adapter, then the new values for the /I, /Q and /A
switches should be used in the ACCTEST command.
For EtherPair-NE2 & EtherCoax-NE2, none of any parameter is
necessary and should not be used when execute ACCTEST.
When you execute the ACCTEST.EXE program, your screen will
display the Acc-10 Test Screen layout presented in Figure 1.

This screen will present you with a Testing Report to indicate
the result of each test conducted. The test results will be
indicated by a 'PASS' or 'FAIL' remark.
When the network function test is running, the Acc-10 Test Screen
layout given in Figure 2 will be shown on your screen.

This layout shows the following items on your screen :
Rx Count - Receive packet count
Tx Count - Transmit packet count
When the ACCTEST.EXE program is being executed using more than
one Acc-10 adapters, the Tx count and Rx count will start running
to reflect the real network traffic. The results of the test
will be shown on the Acc-10 Test Screen.
When any of the tests result to a 'FAIL' remark, your screen will
change to give you a description of the malfunction and at the
same time advise you how to solve the problem. Figure 3 presents
a layout of this screen.
The ACCTEST program automatically checks the error rate when
performing the Network Function Test, which the last test item.
If the error rate is too high, a layout similar to Figure 3 will
be shown on your screen to indicate this.
The ACCTEST.EXE program can be terminated at any time by pressing
the <ESC> key to return to the DOS command mode.

Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
