Type II, 32-bit Cardbus slot 4. 30MB available hard disk space 3.1.2 WINDOWS 98SE AND ME ----------------------- GC83 & GC85 support Windows 98SE and Me using the previous Wireless Manager software version, down loadable from www.sonyericsson.com/support 3.2 PC Card Firmware ------------------------------------------------- GC83/R4D9 GC85/R4C3 and R4D9 *********************************************************** * 4.0 INSTALLING AND UNINSTALLING *********************************************************** 4.1 Installing Wireless Manager ------------------------------------------------- DO NOT insert the Sony Ericsson PC Card until after the Setup.exe program has completed. To install the Wireless Manager software on your PC, complete the following steps: 1. Uninstall any previous version of Wireless Manager by following the instructions in section 4.2 of this readme. 2. If Wireless Manager was downloaded from the web,unzip the files in the zip to a temporary directory on your computer. 3. Run Setup.exe in your temporary directory or D:/Setup.exe on the CD 4. Follow the installation instructions that display on your screen. The installation process might pause for several minutes at one or more stages. During this time the driver software is copied to your hard drive. Do not cancel. 5. When the installation process in complete, insert your PC card. Before you can connect to a mobile network, your SIM card must be inserted into your Sony Ericsson PC card. Additionally, your SIM card must include a subscription that provides access to data services. 6. After a few seconds, the New Hardware Wizard opens and installs the necessary drivers onto your PC. Several "Found New Hardware" pop-up messages are displayed indicating that driver software installation is taking place. 7. Start Wireless Manager using the icon on your desktop or Start -> All Programs -> Sony Ericsson -> Wireless Manager 4.2 Uninstalling Wireless Manager (2000/XP) ------------------------------------------------- Before you uninstall the software, remove your PC card from your PC. To remove the Wireless Manager software from your PC, complete the following steps: 1. From the Windows desktop, select Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs. 2. From the Currently installed programs list, select Sony Ericsson Wireless Manager, and click Change/Remove. 3. Follow the on-screen instructions. 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to remove each of the following programs: • Sony Ericsson Wireless Modem Driver 4.3 Uninstalling Wireless Manager (Windows Vista) ------------------------------------------------- Before you uninstall the software, remove your PC card from your PC. To remove the Wireless Manager software from your PC, complete the following steps: 1. Select Start -> Control Panel. In Default View select Uninstall a program In Classic View select Programs and Features 2. Select Sony Ericsson Wireless Manager and click Uninstall/Change. Follow the uninstall instructions. 3. Select Sony Ericsson Wireless Modem and click Uninstall/Change. Follow the uninstall instructions. *********************************************************** * 5.0 LIST OF CHANGES *********************************************************** Changes since Wireless Manager 4.1 - Support added for Microsoft Vista 64-bit Changes since Wireless Manager 4.0 - Support added for Microsoft Windows Vista 32-bit *********************************************************** * 6.0 KNOWN ISSUES *********************************************************** 6.1 Greek Installation bluescreen --------------------------------- The Greek installation of the Wireless Manager causes a bluescreen if your system contains the following display adapter: "Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset", Driver Revision: 6.14.10.3954 Driver Date: November 16, 2004. To resolve this issue, please upgrade to the following driver revision: "Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset" Driver Revision: 14.20.0.4543 Driver Date: March 27, 2006 6.2 Toshiba Laptop BIOS Update ------------------------------ Certain Toshiba laptops require a BIOS update in order to operate correctly with the GC75/79/8x cards. The problem is that the card must be driven at 3.3V but the laptop does not recognise the standard identifiers for 3.3V cards and sets the power supply to 5V. Check the Toshiba support website for details. Document ID 98060245 refers. In one case (Tecra 8100) a further Microsoft patch Q265296 for Windows 2000 was required. It is recommended that a service engineer checks the PC card voltage. The card can be damaged when 5V is applied. 6.3 laptop blue screen upon resuming from Hibernation/Suspend mode ---------------------------------------------------------------- Before suspending Windows Vista 64-Bit close down the Wireless Manager application and remove the PC card from the slot. Upon resuming from Hibernation/Suspend mode re-insert the PC card. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
