The file extension must not be changed. II. KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS OF THE RELEASE::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: 1) Addressed an issue with servicing queues when using Novell eDirectory 2) Various minor bug fixes. III. LIMITATIONS AND COMPATIBILITY OF THE RELEASE::::::::::::::::::::::::: If you are upgrading from firmware revision 1.7.10 or older, you must first upgrade to 1.9.14 before upgrading to 1.10.8 or newer. For this release, NPA must be turned on in order to successfully flash update the adapter. One of the following methods are required to update the MarkNet S with this release of firmware flash: 1) The flash file can be sent down to the adapter via TFTP with a binary transfer. In the following examples the flash file is located in the C:\inaflash\ directory. NT server example: C:\tftp -i 157.184.29.84 PUT C:\inaflash\1_10_196.psh /dev/flash Transfer successful: 648434 bytes in 13 seconds, 19910 bytes/s OS/2 Server example: [C:\]tftp 157.184.29.84 IBM TCP/IP for OS/2 - TFTP Client ver 14:02:01 on Oct 24 1995. tftp> bin tftp> put (file) c:\inaflash\1_10_196.psh /dev/flash Sent 648434 bytes in 10.8 seconds tftp> 2) MarkVision for Windows 95 or Windows NT Version 3.01 or greater 1. In the MarkVision printer window, double-click the printer with the adapter you want to flash. 2. Click the Adapter Settings tab. 3. Click Flash Adapter. 4. Select the flash file that contains the new firmware code. 5. Click on Open and the new firmware code will be flashed to the adapter. 6. When the process is completed, you will receive notification that the flash was successful and the adapter will reset. 3) MarkVision for Windows 3.1 Version 5.30 or greater (Netware only via Interwin) 4) MarkVision for OS2 Version 2.11 or greater 1. In the printer window locate the adapter you want to update and right-click on it. 2. Select Port and then Properties. 3. Click on Flash Adapter and then point the application to the correct file and select it to flash the adapter. 5) MarkVision for Unix Version 3.1 or greater 1. Start the LEXPRT program. 2. Select the option Update adapter firmware. 3. Select single adapter. (If you want to do multiple adapters you can view the man page for UPDLEXPRT) 4. Enter the hostname(IP address) and select the flash file (include the path for the flash file). 6) Any version of MarkVision for Macintosh. 1. Highlight the adapter you want to update and click on the Update Adapter icon on the left which has a picture of a lightning bolt. 2. Locate the flash file for the adapter, highlight it, then click on Open. 3. The utility will return main screen and the firmware should be updated. OS/2 Network Printer Utility version 5.82 or greater is needed for LexLink printing using OS/2 pre-Warp utilities when using firmware revision 1.8.19 or greater. IV. LEXMARK TECHNICAL SUPPORT AND ELECTRONIC SERVICES::::::::::::::::::::: The Lexmark Network Printer Utility, MarkVision, and the MarkNet family of network adapters are supported by Lexmark. For technical assistance contact the Lexmark Customer Support Center at (888)539-6275 weekdays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. or on weekends from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. EST. Lexmark electronic services provide access to product information, print drivers, firmware updates, and utility program updates. The Lexmark electronic services include: - WorldWide Web (http://www.lexmark.com) V. RELEASE HISTORY::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: 1.10.196 1) Addressed an issue with servicing queues when using Novell eDirectory 1.10.194 1) Added support for for DHCP options 15 and 81 which are related to DDNS. 1.10.192 1) Supressed an error that was caused by the NIMDA virus/worm which was causing the adapter to shut down (976 error). Note that the NIMDA virus/worm cannot infect the MarkNet adapters in any way. 1.10.191 1) Addressed an issue that could cause the adapter to drop off of the network on high traffic networks. 2) Fixed an issue printing via an AS/400 where the sequence number was incorrect on a retransmitted attempt to connect. 3) Corrected a problem on a high latency WAN link where the adapter could get into a bad state and send out a large number of blank HTTP packets. 4) Various minor bug fixes. 1.10.17 1) Improved Ethernet 82557 driver. 1.10.16 1) SLP broadcasts can now be Enabled/Disabled in the TCP/IP op-panel menus. 2) Fixed problem with disabling tftp from the telnet 9000 menus. 3) Improved DHCP DECLINE functionality. 1.10.10 1) Fixed Network Time Protocol (NTP) date problem. 2) Fixed SNMP memory leak. 1.10.8 1) Increased Web Server functionality with improved configuration capabilities. The new Web Server is only supported on Netscape 4.0 and IE 4.0 in Win32 environments. 2) AppleTalk Data Mode is now displayed on the Network Setup Page on the 'Active' line. 3) IPP Support with NT 5.0. 4) OptraImage Improvements a) added support for Optra Color 1200 and Optra Color 45 printers. b) improved text quality in mixed mode on OptraImage 15 (affects all supported printers). c) added a mixed image mode on OptraImage 15 (affects all supported printers). This mode is generally faster than the regular mixed mode and will often have fewer artifacts when copying printed images than the normal mixed mode. d) added support for the Optra Se 3455 printer. e) Fixed problem with paper saver mode on the Optra Color 1200 and Optra Color 45 printers. f) Addition of Panel SCSI Addr setting in Network Setup menu per customer request. WARNING: This setting does NOT set the actual SCSI address of the OptraImage control panel. Instead, it restricts the OptraImage adapter from using any panel other than at the specified address. The default setting for this is Auto (use any control panel detected; lowest address preferred). If this setting is changed to another value (e.g. 0 .. 6), only a panel with that SCSI address will be used. 1.9.14 1) SNMP: Added OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.641.1.3.15.0 for Number of IPX traps supported. 2) Added ability to display the DNS server if the information is available from DHCP (TCP Port 9000). Setting this variable has no effect on the operation of the print server. 3) Using true colors causes a color pallete error when using the status applet with Netscape 4 on NT 4.0 with service pack 3. The simple solution is to set your colors to 256 colors. You can also download the patch from Microsoft. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
