Network Driver Installation

Windows 2000 and XP

	1.	Go to printers and faxes from the start menu.
	2.	Double Click Add Printer.
	3.	They will see a dialog box "Welcome to the Add Printer Wizard". They should press the Next button.
	4.	They will now see a dialog box asking if this is a local printer or network.
			This is where there is some confusion on what to check. 
			Since the printer will be used on the network and not controlled by a 
			print/file server they need to select local printer and un-check detect plug and play.
			There is a note at the bottom of the dialog box telling the user this information.
	5.	Click the Next button.
	6.	They now need to check "Create a new port" and select from the drop down list "standard TCP/IP port"
		This will start the "Add Standard TCP/IP Port Wizard"
	7.	Click the Next button.
	8.	They will now enter the IP address of the printer and create a local port name for that printer.
	9.	They now should select the default "Generic network card" under device type.
	10.	They will now see a dialog box titled "Completing the Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard".
	11.	Click the Next button.
	12.	They will now see a dialog box titled "Install Printer software".
	13.	They should select the "Have Disk" button"
	14.	They will now see a dialog box titled "Install from Disk".
	15.	They should click the browse button.
	16.	The will see a "Local File" Dialog box that will allow them to navigate to the 
			CD-ROM:\Software\USB\Win2k-XP folder.
	17.	They should click on the oemsetup file and click the Open button.
	18.	They will now see the printer name in the dialog box. It will state the printer is signed.
	19.	Click the Next button.
	20.	They will now see the regular question:

			1.	They can change the printer name if they want.
			2.	Should this printer be the default printer.
			3.	Do you want to create a network share for this printer.
			4.	Do you want to print a test page.

	21.	The user will see the "Completing the Add Printer Wizard".
	22.	Click the Finish button.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
